Yes, we should re-introduce endangered species back into the wild, while continuing to make poaching them difficult, shameful and unprofitable. We should also breed and raise endangered species in safe environments such as zoos and farms where poachers can not get at them.This year it has been reported that the number of (endangered) Monarch butterflies spotted at migration rest sites has been increased greatly. It is pesticides and herbicides that kill these butterflies, not poachers, but the increase has been attributed to the recent common practice of planting butterfly gardens with milkweed, the host plant for Monarch caterpillars. Many people throughout the US and Canada have been planting milkweed and raising caterpillars on screened porches or indoors to protect them from wasps, spiders and other hazards. They proudly announce online their count of butterflies released into the wild each year. (Of course, we can’t use this approach for raising rhinos, and the like, but little animals like butterflies are always going to easier to handle and help).

It's a proven fact that people are less satisfied with their current circumstance when made aware there is something better that others are enjoying. That alone would be a curse they would bestow upon us. Secondly we'd feel inferior and react in the characteristic human fashion.My fundamentalist family already has an explanation for aliens that fits their worldview: Demons. The religious majority of this planet would react violently to alien life. There would be even more war and strife.If they did help us it's be like the story of the butterfly released from the cocoon too early, we'd be disabled. If they didn't help us we'd be resentful and angry.While there is a minority that would uplifted by the event, the majority of humanity is stupid, brutish, superstitious and under-developed. What if the baby you save becomes the next Hitler? What if the starving village you feed gains the energy it needs to slaughter its neighbor village?I think any advanced culture would understand this principle of responsibility that goes along with intervention.
