I asked them to wait and I left for about a minute or two, then returned to the window and said, he was too busy on the computer and that they must come back in an hour. They left. I then phoned the phone company and they said they had never sent four technicians and at that point, they only had Indian and white technicians. I immediately called the police. Four police arrived including two police women. I told them what happened. They searched the property then waited for the men because they knew them to be criminals. They never came back. It’s South Africa so you don't just get robbed; it's next level violent. You can get raped, tortured and murdered as a matter of course. To this day I'm surprised I fended them off and saved myself and my unborn child from a gruesome death, because these criminals were very determined. The dog was still a puppy and though big, he was harmless. The protection kicks in at two years of age with these dogs. The fence was easy to get over. I think that me pretending to be nonchalant and to believe their ruse, though my knees were shaking in terror out of sight and then requesting them nicely, to return, helped. They probably did try to come back, but when they saw the police vehicle, they disappeared. It happened twenty years ago. I doubt any of those criminals who tried their luck with me, are still alive. Our police are well trained and experienced professionals. Criminals are amateurs. There's no contest.The next time those men tried that trick…they were probably sent straight to the gates of hell.
