What are some mind-blowing stories of government bribery and corruption?

Our President, Chief Justice of india and Sitting supreme Court Judge won't escape from height of corruption in IndiaThis is for realAPJ Abdul Kalam BustedLike all other I have high respect for this humble person.Chief Justice of India V N Karen BustedFormer Supreme Court judge B P Singh BustedFive times president of the apex court bar association R K Jain. BustedBe you ever so high, you can still be made an accused at Rs 40,000 in Gujarat. That's what's been done to people like President A P J Abdul Kalam, Chief Justice of India V N Khare, a sitting Supreme Court judge B P Singh and five times president of the apex court bar association R K Jain.By giving Rs 40,000 you can get a judicial order?" CJI Khare wondered on Wednesday as a news channel journalist Vijay Shekhar handed over copies of the video tapes exposing rampant corruption in a Ahemdabad metropolitan magistrate's court."If this is the state of affairs, only God knows what will happen to the country," said an anguished CJI Khare against whom the magistrate had issued bailable warrants to appear before him in a criminal case on 17 February 2004.Shekhar said he obtained warrants on the genuine addresses of President Kalam, CJI Khare, Justice Singh and former Supreme Court bar association president Jain. But their designations were not disclosed in the complaint which the lawyers had arranged for issuing the warrants on January 15.Three local lawyers--Narendra Choudhry, Iqbal Katia and Harish Bhanwaniwala (president of the Meghni Nagar courts)-- had helped him secure bailable warrants, as per journalist report.Shekhar had told lawyer that he wanted to settle score with his business rivals--Kalam, CJI Khare, Justice Singh and Jain.Magistrate's name is not disclosed.A Bench of CJI Khare, Justices S B Sinha and S H Kapadia ordered the Gujarat High Court registrar general to immediately seize and seal the file from the magistrate of court No. 10, Meghani Nagar, Ahmedabad. It asked the registrar general to send the file to the Supreme Court at the earliest as it will hear the public interest petition on Thursday.Petitioner's counsel Harish Salve said the warrants were issued in connection with a case titled Suresh Kumar Jethalal Sanghavi vs Rajendra Kumar Jain and others under section 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code at a cost of Rs 40,000.Salve said the original tape of the sting operation, an edited copy of the recording, all the four warrants in original, a certified copy of the order dated January 15 passed by the metropolitan magistrate court No.10, Meghani Nagar, Ahmedabad and the original receipt issued by the `nazir' of the said court towards deposit of the requisite fee for issuance of certified copies of the order. The tv channel wanted to telecast the tape but Salve had advised them not to do so before the matter was brought to the notice of the court. What had prompted Shekhar to conduct the sting operation? It was after coming to know that a large number of businessmen having disputes were taking undue advantage of the criminal process of the judicial system by filing false and concocted criminal complaints to harass their business rivals for vested interests. In order to test the ``brazenness' that he chose the four names of persons with whom he assumed any lawyer and particularly judicial officer would be easily familiar with.Thank God we have few journalist who keep our democracy still alive.A tribute to those journalists. This is the classic example for corruption in India.

Which is better, doing an MBA straight after a B.Tech from a top notch engineering college in India, or working for 2-3 years and then pursuing it?

Although Balaji Viswanathan (பாலாஜி விஸ்வநாதன்) has answered this question and this is one of the very few instance where I don't 100% agree with him. A Point to be noted is that whatever he has written is close to a perfect answer you will get for this question. However, in my opinion, his answer is applicable only in an ideal case. Before coming to an answer, I want to give little bit of background of my educational career. I have done my Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Telecommunication(2009-13). Currently, I am working in Oracle (software industry). I will be pursuing my MBA degree from XLRI (which is one of the best institute of India) from upcoming academic year (2014-16). Which means I will be doing my MBA after 9 months of work experience. Is it ideal? I will say NO. Ideally as Balaji has mentioned 3-4 years of experience is essential. Even when I decided to do MBA I was thinking about at least 2 years of experience. However, when I got admission into one of the best B-schools of India, I started thinking on following chain of thoughts.Getting into Best B-school of India -If you come form General-Engineer-Male famously known as GEM background it is extremely difficult to get into IIMs. XLRI,SPjain are some of the very few B-schools which give admission purely on basis of merit. Thus in a way, I got admission into best possible B-school of India for me.Now the question was should I risk it for 'work experience'?Almost everyone with whom I had this conversation (people who are senior to me by 2-3 years; work ex around 3-4) said the same thing. It is extremely difficult to get into top B-school of India. You have to score in excess of 99 percentile, then have to face most intellectually genius panel in the country. And believe me these panels ask you anything under the sun. It is difficult to crack an interview. I have seen number of examples when people have scored 99.9+ percentile and still got rejected in interview. So to prepare for such a humongous process of admission while performing well at your job in industry is a daunting task. There is a little guarantee that you will replicate same result after one year. (Just for statistic, Approximately 2 Lakh people give CAT, 90000 appear for XAT, considering negative scoring system, if you messed up 2-3 questions you straight a way lose 2-3 percentile and suddenly you are out of race. It is very difficult to guarantee success in these competitive exam. Not to mention, since CAT has gone online, lot of cases have been filed against IIMs for discrepancy in the process. Admissions to IIMs under cloud as writ alleges irregularities in CAT 2013 - The Times of India)Importance of work experience from B-school's point of viewFrom B-School point of view there is a little advantage that people with work experience get over fresher in the process of admission. In fact, marks given to your work experience decreases once you cross the threshold of 36 months. Check table number 5 from IIM Calcutta admission criteria.Edit - Providing official link on IIM Calcutta website instead of secondary website given in original answerLink -Admission Procedure for Domestic Candidates (Edit - Added extra source after a recommendation given in the comment)IIM calcutta Admission Criteria 2013 - 15Quality of work experienceOne point which I really liked in answer of Balaji is value of experience in industry. He has rightly mentioned importance of work experience which will eventually become instrumental in process of MBA. I will not repeat it. But whatever he has mentioned about learning from different parts of organization, sadly, do not happen in real life, at least in big companies like infosys, cognizant, accenture, TCS (where most of Indian youngsters are working). More often than not people are benched for more than year. It is very common in IT industry to not to have an idea about what is happening in your own project forget about HR, Finance department. Thus, point here is, in my opinion, more than work experience in terms of number of months what counts is, are you getting to learn the things that you are suppose to learn. Answer, sadly, in most cases is NO.My own adviceIf you got the job which is providing you the knowledge which will help you in understanding the business part of organization in great depth. Then I would suggest you to do job for 5 years and then go for executive MBA. Doing 3-4 years of job and then going for normal MBA is difficult since interview panel will grill you about your high experience and those questions are most difficult to answer in MBA interviewHowever, I don't see any reason to not to opt for top B-school of India even if you are fresher (0 work experience). Yes! it won't be easy, Yes! it is not ideal but rejecting IIMs, XLRI, FMS, SPJain, JBIMS just because you think you don't have 'ample' work experience is not at all a pragmatic option in current scenario.P.S. - I am not going to answer this from Pay-package point of view. It is one of the most derogating way of judging B-school. We should not join B-school just to increase package. If you work hard, earn required knowledge then I think you will do well as far as money is concern. Adapting work culture - can not comment in that area, no experience.

What is the minimum percentile required to get a call from FMS, Delhi?

You may get a call from FMS but for conversion, one needs to get a high percentile. If you managed to score a 99.50+percentile in the CAT exam then surely you will get a call from FMS. The college calls the candidate 10 times the number of seats that is 251. Getting 98.50 percentile will also fetch you a call but one has to perform exquisitely in the interview and get 4/5 in extempore and 14/15 in the interview. In FMS, the interview is of only 5–8 minutes and they judge how the student thinks and construct his/her thoughts at the very moment. You may not get a chance to show your true personality and confidence and may lose points in the interviews, which in result jeopardize your selection. If the candidate with 99.70 percentile performs below average in the interview he/she got huge CAT percentile to ensure the conversion but with 98.50, FMS will drop you with calculations.FMS gives 40% weightage to the VARC section while 30% of the weightage is given to QUANTS and LRDI respectively when considering for a call. Let's suppose two-person A and B scores equal marks lets say 135 marks in the CAT. The person having more marks in VARC got a good chance to get a call as compared to the person who also got equal marks but less in VARC.The one who is scoring 99.90 percentile and the other with 98.50 percentile, There won't be much difference in their level of CAT preparation. Don't focus on just getting a call, prepare to convert it. Be committed to your CAT preparations. Everyone wants to study in top IIMs but few are committed to their goals. One really need to put a lot of efforts to get to the point of 90 percentile. So you aren't getting anything good at 90 percentile. Why not put some extra efforts into the preparations to fetch the 99 percentile?I hope this helps. All the best!!!
