Nothing, absolutely nothing, and that was by design.All three sons attended a wonderful private school that was quite literally the antithesis of our public schools. If it was a rule in public school, it was a non-rule at their school, and that worked out fabulously. Unfortunately, the school went only through 8th grade.The oldest chose to create his own high school experience, basically, work until it was time for college. The middle son, however, was a budding baseball player and felt he needed to go to the local high school to be able to play ball. The youngest was attached to the idea of participating in the computer-animation program at his new high school after moving to Texas, widely considered the premiere such secondary program in the country.The only reason I’m answering is to let those interested here know there is an alternative.I told both they could attend public high school on the condition I never had to be involved. I made each practice the short version of my signature until it passed scrutiny (a few tries apiece). Here is the pact they were offered:You are free to attend high school (or not, if you change your mind) so long as nothing gets through to me (mom was radically busy with her career and had little more patience for bureaucratic BS than I did, though she was significantly more tactful).You sign everything for me. If it’s ever challenged, I will swear I signed it.If any teacher or admin should want to meet with me, make it clear that I am never available. Ditto mom.I do not want to hear any school issues, only fun things that happened with friends.If anything goes way wrong and I get called in, it will not be pretty. The whole family is likely to be expelled.Not only did it work without a hitch, it was a significant experience for both boys to self-parent their way through the high school experienceThere was a lurking regret on my part though. One uncle, famously in family lore, got called from his medical practice to meet the principal because “your son is in serious trouble, and we have been unable to reach his mother.”Arriving at the principal’s office, he was left to sit in the outer office with his son, in junior high at the time, for 15 minutes. Finally, the principal appeared and bid them into his office.“Tell your father what you did.”“We were playing ball in the schoolyard, and somebody hit the ball into the street. I went to go get it. A woman honked her horn at me, stopped and yelled for me not to play in the street, so I told her to go fuck herself.”My uncle reacted with mock shock before “grilling” his son, “Conrad, why ever did you want to say such a shitty thing?”The principal thereupon threw them both out and that was that.I completely missed my chance to make steam come out of a principal’s ears.

I studied at two schools -Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan's Public School ( which has since been changed to Vidya Bhawan ) and Bishop Conrad . I have very fond memories of the place and my parents and extended family are all based in Bareilly.Quora is relatively lesser known in this small cantonment town , but it's catching up to the popularity of Facebook albeit slowly.
