How was your SBI PO interview experience?

Well this was my first interview experience for any government examination and it was filled with some awesome takeaways. So I would like to share it:SBI interview consist of following things-Group DiscussionGroup ExercisePersonal InterviewMy Interview Schedule wasSBI LHO LUCKNOW26 September, 201810:30 AM panel 1I will not say the cliche “After a smooth document process, we went to the conference hall” rather I had a different experience. As it was my first interview, I reached 1 hour before the time alotted. Then went for biometric, and as usual it didn't match ( I was LMAO, as I was familiar with the pain) then I told them about my previous experiences of biometric not being matched and somehow I managed to get through it with 80% matching after a hell lot of trials. Then it was DOCUMENT VERIFICATION, in which they asked me why you have all the Character Certificates from different banks only, not from your college, then I told them I hardly get time to go there, and if required I will show it at the time of DV after final results. Then we, me n my panel colleagues, went for GROUP DISCUSSION AND GROUP EXERCISE in a large conference hall where we were first given topic for GD, that was,SHOULD THERE BE FIX TIMINGS OR FLEXIBLE TIMINGS AT WORK PLACES?It was very healthy and fruitful, as we all came on a conclusion ( that it depends on the nature of the job ). The panelist were giving chance to everyone one to put forward their views. Neight was anyone being dominating nor anyone was left out from the discussion. Then they gave 5 minute break for the next GROUP EXERCISE in which we had to arrange 8 points according to priority wise as WHY INDIA IS NOT BEING ABLE TO GET MEDALS IN OLYMPICS?Again, it was a healthy and friendly discussion and we were able to came on a final list, everyone agreed, before the time alloted to us to discuss ie, 20 minutes. Then we were made to sit in a hall for 30 minutes, and they provided us the lunch. Then after we were called for interview. Then came my turn for INTERVIEW , I was nervous from underneath but showing like I don't care, as I already have a job right now, ( This is a pro advice I want to give , FAKE IT UNTIL YOU MAKE IT)As they saw I have been working in a bank, they started bombarding questions related to banking only, it took 15 long minutes for them to judge me through those never-ending back to back question answer session. I think there were around 30–35 questions they asked me, some were based on experience, some were hypothetical, some were situation based, some were fact based. Also I wasn't able to answer them all but I didn't choose to give wrong answer, otherwise I would be trapped and end up losing the points. Lastly they said “ All the best, now you may leave”.As usual when I came outside, everyone started questioning me what happened inside the room n all, I was feeling like a celebrity, LOL :D.When I came out from that damn awesome building of SBI LHO it felt like a dream come true, being in the top 6000 competitors among those 10 lakh candidates, which I was having in my head from a long time back. This was once and for all, life time experience of SBI PO.Thanks for reading.Shivam Aishwarya ♥️

How was your interview experience at SIBM?

So here it goes ...I got a boundary line percentile in SNAP for getting shortlisted for SIBM some 98.XXish.My interview was scheduled on 14th Feb 2016 - Sunday, 7:45am (Yeah, a Sunday morning and a Valentines day). The campus is beautiful to say the least and being located on a hill top adds to the surreality of it. We were asked to assemble in a hall and were made to sit according to our batch numbers. This was followed by an address from the Admission's Committee which has representatives from the students currently pursuing MBA from there. After this the director addressed the shortlisted students. Then started the document verification process after which we were given snacks and an SIBM carry bag with a notepad and a pen. Our respective student representatives took us to the waiting room where we were made to sit along with the group. A brief introduction among the group members ensured that we were comfortable among ourselves and that, I believe, helps when you are participating in a Group Exercise. We were the taken to a classroom where the panel, who was supposed to judge our GE, WAT, was seated. There were 3 WATs each of 5 minutes durationWAT 1 : List down your 5 major accomplishments - Easy.. by the time you are ready for MBA interviews you get to know yourself inside out and your achievements in life are on the tip of your tongue all the time.WAT 2 : This had more behavioral questions like describe yourself in three words. I remember one question which had a cliche complex statement with 'effervescence, entropy, universe' words. I seemed to have read it somewhere but could not comprehend what the statement was trying to convey. We had to comment on that statement - In the last 10 seconds of the 5 mins for WAT I wrote - "Things could have been conveyed in a simpler way"WAT 3 : In this WAT a small animated video was shown and we had to give a title to the video and write 5 points that we inferred from it in 5 minutes. Everybody in my group interpreted the video in their own different ways and this is where you could give the panel a glimpse of your personality and your thought pattern. In my video a small child was struggling to get something out from a tree by throwing small twigs at the tree but was not successful at his attempt. Seeing which a tall man comes, shakes the big tree which makes a whole lot of fruit fall from the tree. Brimming with pride and contentment, the man walks away smiling, thinking that he had helped the child get the fruit from the tree. After the man walks away, the child throws the fruit and goes back disappointed and just then a ball falls from the tree.Title - Assumption should never be the substitute of communicationI wrote along the lines of importance of requirement understanding and communication. Average WATGROUP EXERCISE : My group had 8 members and we were divided in groups of 3 - Project Manager ,3 - New graduate from IIT, fresher at the company ,2 - Technical Manager at the company. The group exercise required us to evaluate an expense overrun in the company, steps that could be taken to improve, why the situation had arisen in the first place and what could be done to avoid such situations in the future. The GE went quite well , no fish market situations, a number of points and perspectives were put forth. The panel appreciated the group after the exercise.PERSONAL INTERVIEW AND EXTEMPORE :I was the last person the be interviewed in my group of 8. The panel was hungry and bored. The panel had two middle aged people and we were told that both of them belonged to the IT sector(one was from Syntel).Extempore :This was the image that I had to speak 3 minutes on during the interview. I spoke along the lines of how celebrities are being given Godly status. Spoke a little about marketing, brand management, how people are becoming increasingly aware and how they must think twice about the product that they are investing their money in, to use their senses because if Dhoni is good at what he does, doesn't necessarily mean that the product that he is endorsing is also equally good. Celebrity endorsements might catch your eye for one moment but in the long run it is the quality of your product that will help your brand sustain and grow. For now lets call Panelist 1 - P1 and Panelist 2: P2P2 : So what is the message you would like to give the buyers of todayMe : spoke along the lines of being sensible and not get carried away by celebrity endorsements.P2 : Describe yourself in three sentencesMe: (This was a little shocking) Gave some cliche.. gives her 100 percent, honest, creative type answersP1 : Tell me about yourselfP1 : Final year projectP2 : Achievements at workP1 : Problems faced, how did you overcome them? What role did seniors play? What did you learn ?P1 : You are such a technical person, Why do you want to do an MBA?Me: Told them about my interest in Human Resource Management cited a few achievements and examples.P2 : (After almost taking a small nap) What is this interesting answer you have written in WAT -"Things could have been conveyed in a simpler way", ExplainMe : (Poker face - Oh Snap! I had written that answer because could not understand that line at all) Like a typical HR manager I said - Sir, the idea that the writer was trying to put forth was difficult to comprehend for anybody who reads it. Even from an HR manager's perspective, if this is how people in an organization talk to each other, there would never be any meaningful 'communication'(read transfer of ideas).Verdict : First List Convert !!!!Takeaways :Even if you scored borderline marks in written exam, if you manage to do well in the other rounds, you can definitely make it to the final list.SIBM's was one of the most creative processes for shortlisting and you need to be spontaneous to get through. The Admission Committee of students from SIBM, assists you during the entire process and you get a chance to interact with the students of your prospective college directly even before you join the institute.

What are your views on the court case filed against SBI PO 2017 recruitment? Do you think that SBI will lose the case?

SBI has all the powers to make any changes in the recruitment process. Though it has all the powers in my views they can’t change anything and everything. Some major points to be considered in this case are (only my views)Sectional cutoff completely removed in objective part. If they removed sectional cutoff in objective part, why they didn’t removed the same for descriptive paper, group exercise and Personal interview. (consider - objective parts will be automatically evaluated by computer and the rest i.e descriptive, group exercise and interview are evaluated manually). Please understand what I am trying to say in this point. Many candidates have failed because of sectional marks in group exercise and interview.0 marks in Data analysis section. This section has 35 questions, time allotted- 45 minutes. This section is really very tough. But, why can’t the candidates get 1 question right in 45 minutes? SBI is the first bank to introduce sectional timing to encourage candidates to focus on all the sections of exam.If a candidate scored 0 marks, there are 3 possibilities.1.Candidates didn’t attend any questions in that section.Any serious candidate won’t think to leave the entire section without attending at least one question. This would have happened only if the candidate already knew that there would be no sectional cutoff (so we can eliminate this possibility)2. Candidates have attended some questions. But the marks he/she obtained was neutralized by the penalty marks of their wrong answersBut obtaining equal positive marks and negative in such exams are very rare case (so we can eliminate this possibility too)3. No negative marks were given to any candidate (probably this would have happened with SBI)Yes. SBI have normalised all the negative marks to zero (in my view - as I didn’t seen any scorecard with negative marks in any section. If you have seen any scorecard with negative mark please make a comment or make a new answer)If this really happened then the candidates who got positive marks in these sections are affected badly.Do you think it is fair if possibility 3 really happened with this case? This is only the case of Data analysis section. Anyone don’t know about other sections Reasoning, English language and General/Banking/Financial awarenessNow there is another biggest problem for all the SBI PO aspirants as well as selected candidates. It is the next hearing date. It is scheduled to April. Because of this the next recruitment will also get delayed.I request candidates those who are directly involved in this case to make a petition for the early hearing of the caseIn my views SBI should make a fresh list and conduct the Phase 3 (Group exercise and Personal interview) of the selection process. These are only my views. I can’t order either SBI or Delhi High Court
