I initially enlisted in the Army as a Combat Engineer for three years.The first year was AWESOME: Jump School, then assigned to Fort Hood, Texas as an armored personnel carrier driver in an engineer platoon that spent ten months of exciting training, including firing weapons, demolitions ranges with TNT and C-4 explosives, a Mechanized Infantry Gunnery (MIGUN) range where we engaged multiple pop-up targets with multiple weapons, and even small boat operations. We capped this off with a rotation through the National Training Center where we battled a regiment of fake Russians in the California desert.The second year, I transferred to the HQ section, which linked up with the TOC (Tactical Operations Center) of a cavalry battalion and returned to NTC. Instead of charging into battles and breaching minefields, we were planning battles in between breaking down and setting up temporary headquarters. The last half of the year, I was sent to classes on maintenance leadership and Soviet weapons and tactics, and drove a safety officer following behind Combat Engineer Vehicles as they fired their weapons on a tank range.Unfortunately, as my third year began, our company was “stood down” from any further training as other companies got more attention and funding to go to NTC or overseas. My company loaned most of our enlisted men to a field test of the Army’s first cellular phone system, the MSC (Mobile Subscriber Equipment). Other than going out once or twice to mount guard duty on the camp while the MSC troops got the weekends off, there was almost nothing going on back in the company office and barracks.Many of my friends from the first two years had left the Army or transferred to other posts. I was becoming bitter, depressed and lonely, and had no desire to meet new people as I was getting close to the end of my 3 years and just wanted to go home and be with my family.Desert Shield/Storm began on the day I left the Army, and within ten days, I had reenlisted and retuned to Texas (Fort Sam Houston) to re-train as a medic, then on to Fort Bragg, North Carolina where my reserve unit operated the hospital while the active duty troops went to Saudi Arabia. When the war ended, I became a reservist and went to college. during my second enlistment (my first as a reservist) I thought about ROTC but decided to leave college to attend nursing school, then apply for a commission as an RN and maybe go back on active duty.But as I reenlisted for a third time (second as a reservist) I had developed an unhealthy lifestyle. I stopped running or doing PT and ate too much fast food. I failed every PT test during my third enlistment and was barred from reenlisting, going to promotional schools or being promoted. I left the reserves and focused on graduating from nursing school, hoping that when I was done studying, I could resume PT and get back into shape in order to re-enlist into the reserves and apply for the Nursing Corps.But working as an RN was just as hard as being a nursing student and I gave up trying to get back into shape. My military career was already over, I just took a few years to admit it to myself.The key to making the military a career is to adopt a healthy, athletic lifestyle and maintain it. Once you let your body go, it is twice as hard to get it back, especially when your mind is focused on other things.

Long term and short Term training courses are regularly conducted in the field of agriculture engineering such as IoT Technician (Smart Agriculture) (CTS).He has a wide scope of Employability ranging from self-employment, contractual employment to Industrial jobs on successful completion of this course.2. Job OpportunitiesJust like other professional and vocational courses institute, even ITI’s have dedicated placement cells which look after placement of students. These placement cells have tie-ups with various governmental organizations, private companies who hire the students for jobs in several trades.A. Job in Public Sector UnitsThe biggest employer of ITI agri -students is the public sector or the government agencies. Students who have completed their ITI can seek employment with various Public Sector Units / PSUs .B. Jobs in Private SectorPrivate sector, especially the ones dealing in manufacturing and mechanics seek out ITI students for trade specific jobs. The key sectors in which ITI students can find lucrative career opportunities include construction, agriculture, textiles, energy. As far as specific job profiles are concerned, electronics, welding refrigeration and air-conditioner mechanic are the most sought-after skills in an ITI student in the private sector.C. Self-EmploymentThis is probably the most important advantage of opting for ITI course, as it allows one to start own business and be self-employed. Thanks to the preference towards white-collar jobs, professionals who do blue collar services. Therefore, today we find an acute shortage of trained and qualified agricultural technicians, engineers , agricultural workers etc. This is a great opportunity for students with an ITI certificate to start their business and be self-employed.
