PDF Editor FAQ
Have you ever been to the emergency room? Why and what happened?
This happened a couple months ago. I had gotten back from Texas, where I was visiting for Thanksgiving, and was working a shift when I felt sharp pains in my chest. They persisted to the point where the whole left side of my torso hurt so badly that I couldn’t get up. Or, I could, but really didn’t want to.I called my mother, who tried to teach me how to check my pulse. But teaching anyone how to check their pulse any way other than face to face is pretty impossible, so I eventually decided I had to get back to work and that I would keep my mom posted.I closed the store (only one person tends to work at a time) and my mom picked me up. My mother is an RN (what what) and checked my pulse. There was nothing irregular with my heart beat, so she suggested I sleep it off.Okay, I thought. Sleep it off, I said. It’s not like I’m going to wake up in the most excrutiating pain I’ve ever experienced in my entire 18 years of living, I rationalized.Because I am a master of foreshadowing, I’m sure that you are surprised that I woke up two hours later unable to move, I was in so much pain. I texted my mom, hoping she was awake. She was, and I begged her to come upstairs.Concerned that I may have needed to go to the ER, she asked me to come downstairs. Being in Xtreme Payn™, I asked her to just Come Upstairs. When she got up there, she asked, obviously, what was wrong?Okay, I thought to myself, This hurts, but we have our fragile masculinity to preserve here, so let’s not do anything stupid like start freaking out.I opened my mouth to list my symptoms in a calm and collected manner.I cried like a baby instead.Don’t worry. Still wasn’t the most embarrassing or painful part of the night. My mom, being an expert in the medical field, told me to grab my shoes and a jacket, we were going to the hospital. I did her one better; I grabbed all that, pulled on a pair of jeans, and grabbed my phone, wallet, and earbuds. I’m also 90% sure that my pocket knife was stuffed in my pocket, but you really shouldn’t bring pocket knives to hospitals, so we’ll disregard that.We go to the ER. My mother, bless her heart, drove to IU Health instead of the closer hospital. Why, you may ask? She is planning on applying there, and didn’t want to risk looking bad bringing her child, WHO WAS ON THE BRINK OF DEATH, there.Whatever, mom. It’s cool, I’m not bitter or anything. Hope it’s That Sweet A Gig.EDIT: My mom wants me to emphasize that she wasn’t as stressed because she knew I probably wasn’t experiencing cardiac problems, and that she would have taken me to Urgent Care if they were open. My mom is a good mom and RN.(I’m joking, I was literally thinking ‘I hope she doesnt take me there, she wants to apply there.’)Considering my mom was also legitimately considering getting coffee on our way there, I think I lucked out. Child having chest pains ranks over coffee, evidently. So we hustled (or, in my case, shuffled) into the ER lobby. We filled out forms, they talked insurance, I wondered if curling up on the floor and dying would shut down the ER for at least thirty minutes. The lady looked at the wrist band printer.“On a scale of 1–10, how would you rate your pain.”I could still move, so I said, “Uhm….. 6 to 8? Put seven.”“Okay.” She typed some more, then looked back at me.“Your name is [BIRTH NAME]?”Sigh.“…Yeah……”They slapped the braclet on my wrist. And immediately usher me into a room.What.There were other people in the waiting room before me.That German Baptist Lady could have had her foot crushed by a donkey drawn cart hours ago. Why was I being taken in?I’m dying, I thought, If I die, will Ben Platt sing a memorial song for me? I hope he sings American Pie. That’d be lovely.I got to the room. They gave me a hospital gown that complimented my eyes and asked some questions. They asked if I was pregnant.I snorted and responded, “Nope.”I’m a virgin, after all.But as I answered, I realized that they did not see a smoking hot trans dude who likes to pitch over catch, and attracts the guys with his smoldering eyes. What they probably saw was a super butch cis lesbian who has probably never had a man or a penis anywhere near her. They asked me to change into my hospital gown. That’s cool. They told me where I could toss out a sanitary napkin. Also cool. They handed me a cup. Cool…?They told me to pee in the cup.Okay.… O k a y.I did it, because you obviously cannot risk anything in a hospital. I kind of appreciated that they still had reasonable doubt that I was only attracted to cis girls. Thanks, IU.So I filled their cup, accepted that sometimes life hands you a cup and asks you to pee in it, and crawled into the hospital bed. They brought in the physician’s assistant. Even with my glasses off, let me just say.Damn.His name was Sam, and if I hadn’t been dying I would have been asking for his Facebook or something. Give me some of that barrel chested goodness, my Lord. We’re chatting, he asks the same questions. I get a scan by a lovely young nurse, and someone gets to see my boobs in an awkward postion for the first time that night.I go back to the room, and two nurses come in. One to put my EKG on, the other to draw blood.EKG nurse is super nice, and I suspect a fellow gay, and I make a hilarious joke about Bonnie and Clyde when she has to awkwardly open up my gown to stick the EKG on. She offers to hold my hand while they do my IV, but I’m a mama’s boy and thank her but wait paitently. My mom gets back, and after a brief panic attack, I let them stick me. They flush my system, then start mixing up a sick ass cocktail of ‘lets knock this guy the Fuck Out.’They give me a nausea tablet, meant to reduce puking. I respond properly, and immediately vomit it up. As I’m hanging over a vomit bag, who should walk in but my knight in shining armor, Sam the Physician’s Assistant.“How we doing?” He asked, holding the water jug he so kindly brought me.I was puking, so I didn’t respond. Instead, I wondered if Sam was only going to see me at my most unflattering moments. If our love was true, I decided, he would love me for all my flaws. Including being incapable of properly responding to nausea medication.I didn’t feel nauseous from there, so the tablet worked, and I sat back as they put something new on my IV. The nurse mentioned diluting the ever loving shit out of it.‘Oh,’ I thought, ‘Thats not a good thing to have to do.’Five minutes later I was having a panic attack and loudly yelling at the heart monitor, which was beeping in time wih my poor anxiety ridden heart, to JUST SHUT UP. This was interspersed with occassional dramatic wails of, ‘Im never getting out of heeeeeeeeeere.’My mother was concerned, understandably. She thought I might have been having an allergic reaction.Turns out, the drug they gave me, Reglan, is really good at giving your brain the sensation that everything is breaking and you are going to die oh my god oh my god. Hence, why it had been diluted and why I was currently violently thrashing in bed while acting out a one man mexican soap opera. Finally, I calmed down. My new boyfriend, Sam, enters just as the Benadril is kicking in.“You okay?”“Mhm.”And then I fell asleep.Woke up two hours later feeling better. I was diagnosed with pleurisy, an inflammation of the membrane surrounding the lungs.Cool, whatever. I just wanted to go home and figure out if Sam had an Instagram. We get checked out, I get dressed, and we go to the car.My mom buys me McDonalds. It’s a fun time.
Which is more effective: homeopathy or allopathy?
If you want convincing results within a short period of time, undoubtedly it's Allopathy.Eg: Suppose you have hypothyroidism, with your TSH Level at 15 micro IU/ ml., your endocrinologist advice you to take Eltroxin 50 mcg daily on empty stomach. One month later your doc advice you to repeat your TSH level. Wow…it's just 4.2 micro IU/ ml.! You are really thrilled by the convincing results within a short period of just one month. You feel proud to have consulted the ‘real doctor' and not any pseudoscience practitioners. You are adviced to continue the ‘medicine'.After six months, your regular TSH check reads at 12 micro IU/ml. Your doc advice you to take 75 mcg of Eltroxin regularly, without fail. A couple of months later, again your TSH level is below 5.After two more years, your TSH level read 9.8 micro IU/ ml. Seeing the results, your doc increase your Eltroxin a third time to 100mcg daily, and justify that the earlier doses were insufficient, and this is the correct dose for you. After 5 years of ‘treatment’ you ask your doc when the treatment can be stopped. The learned super specialist in endocrinology is in no mood to answer your stupid question. Dejected, you go back to your family doctor. He tries to explain to you what hypothyroidism is. Then he convince you of the need to continue the ‘medicine’ till your endocrinologist asked you to stop(but you are never told that the endocrinologist won't stop the medication ever). If the patient is a hard-core fan of the ‘real scientific system of medicine', the ‘treatment' is continued for ever.Since he followed experts’ advice to have a health insurance policy, he is not at all bothered by the escalating cost of the ‘treatment’. After six years of starting the thyroid ‘treatment’, now he is taking medication for diabetes, high blood pressure, and dyslipidemia in addition to his thyroid ‘medication’. He is used to the habit of swallowing 12 tablets of varying color and size now-a-days.Now let's analyse this case. When he went to the endocrinologist, he was thoroughly examined, BP and pulse recorded, various biochemical and immunological tests done, his thyroid gland scanned with high resolution ultra sonograph etc..to help the endocrinologist diagnose your disease accurately. What the endocrinologist made out from these ritualistic physical examination and routine investigations was that this guy's thyroid gland is not producing enough thyroid hormones, and hence, availability of thyroid hormones (T3 and T4)in the body is subnormal. Thus the endocrinologist’s aim was to make sure that availability of sufficient hormones in the system is guaranteed. Eltroxin is not a medicine, but the actual hormone itself. So the patient has been on supplementation therapy all these years!! And his thyroid disease never addressed/treated and cured. Furthermore, after starting the hormone supplementation therapy, the condition of the thyroid further deteriorated, necessitating the endocrinologist to increase the dose of thyroid hormonee at regular intervals. So this thyroid disease when left untreated, complicated the condition of the patient further, opening the gateway for other diseases like hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia etc.. and grave conditions like coronary artery disease, chronic kidney disease etc..are still to follow. Now since the patient is required to consult cardiologist, diabetologist, nephrologist, general physician etc..the endocrinologist is saved of taking any responsibility for his failure to cure the patient of his thyroid disease. In fact it's not the fault of the endocrinologist. In spite of all the advanced investigations and accurate diagnosis, the super specialist is helpless, for want of any effective medical treatment, in his system of treatment- allopathy. So he is compelled to address only the end result of the disease and not the root cause.Suppose, you consulted a classical Homoeopath in the beginning. He would take your case in full details including your family history starting from your grandparents. From the study of your family history, the classical Homoeopath get an idea of diseases being previously suppressed. This enable him to figure out as to what went wrong in you, which caused your present condition of the thyroid. After getting your psychic features and your physical generals, the classical Homoeopath identify the unique person in you. From the details of your case, the homoeopath also make a miasmatic diagnosis, along with identifying your thermal reaction, temperament etc.. Such a thorough study of the case will point to a constitutional medicine. Sometimes, two or three similar medicines may look equally suitable for you. But the experience of the doctor will play a decisive role and finally your (single)medicine is arrived at. This medicine in highly potentised form will be capable of unwinding the problem and bring about a permanent cure without causing any side-effects or complications. Such a treatment would have avoided the subsequent diabetes, dyslipideamia and hypertension. This is the only way to CURE any chronic diseases. This will also make sure that no further complications occur to you. The entire process may take six months to three years time.Hope this answer is helpful to you.
How many of you take health supplements daily? Which and why?
I have been taking multi vitamin supplement 50+ (I am nearing fifty years of age) but only half the strength. I am sometimes deficient of something or other (Vitamin B complex, Vitamin B12, Vitamin D3). Though I try to compensate the deficient nutrient from meat or vegetables or pulses (or sunlight for Vitamin D3), I feel good through the supplement.I have also been taking Magnesium Taurate, which helps avoid leg cramps at night. When I am very deficient in Vitamin D3, I also take Vitamin D3 IU 60000 supplement once a month with fat (coconut oil as Vitamin D3 is fat soluble) and take sun bath.
