Because the title doctor is bestowed on all who have earned a doctoral degree. They don’t earn a doctor of medicine degree. They earn a doctor of chiropractic degree.Here are the facts that give Chiropractors the title of doctor. In fact their education compares quite similarly to medical doctors. But, there is no doubt that chiropractors earn their doctorate and are rightfully called doctor by our society’s current requirements. Trust is not provided by earning a degree. There are bad chiropractic doctors and bad medical doctors, and bad teachers, etc… You should be able to trust a chiropractor to have the knowledge their degree implies and the ability that their license implies.I would not trust a chiropractor to work on your car or give you advice on vaccinations unless they had additional training as a mechanic or in public health, but I would trust a chiropractor when it comes to neuromusculoskeletal health, sports injuries, car accidents, weight loss, smoking cessation, and any health conditions that do not require drugs or surgery.

Q. Do medical schools prefer UC students?A. More UC students get accepted into medical schools in CA when compared with Cal State. Firstly, this may be related to numbers. UCLA is the main feeder in the whole country, with the most students applying to medical schools each year. There are only UC medical schools. UC students may be better test takers, they tend to have higher MCAT scores. There may be bias that the same GPA are more valued from certain UC schools. UC schools are research oriented, the students may have more access to lab experience and research. Students at Cal State may be thought of as students who did not get into UC schools. This may not be correct as some may choose Cal State over UC because of lower cost or better location since there are many more convenient campuses. There is a perception that students with the same GPA and MCAT scores at UC may get interviews while Cal State may not.Some of the above may be true. Fairly or not.But well qualified Cal State students get accepted into UC medical schools all the time! There may be less bias out of state, where the difference between UC and Cal State is less of a factor. CA students have the credentials and are very competitive across the country, even if less so at home. San Diego is one of the well respected California medical schools, particularly for its research. If you are interested in research, San Diego would be a great choice. It is one of the Top 20 medical schools. The area has serious gang problems and hence gang violence. What this means for you is that you will see trauma that you will not see in other places. It also means that you will probably see more serious disease than you will see at other places. UCLA also has an associated county program (Harbor), but you may or may not rotate there during your time at UCLA. I only had one rotation there. USC and UCLA is one of the biggest rivalries in California medical schools and particularly the undergrad campuses, so obviously I favor UCLA! However, the county-based training at USC offers a great opportunity for you to get a lot of experience, particularly with procedures. While Loma Linda is a Christian school, you do not have to be Chrisitan to attend. You will learn more about spirituality and its influence on medicine here than you will at other schools. Students learn how to take a “spiritual history” from patients, which basically just means learning about the person’s faith. Faith often influences people’s perception of illness so in my opinion it’s a great asset to have this training in your medical education. The school library and other services close on Saturdays. Osteopathic schools award the DO degree, vs the MD degree from allopathic schools. Osteopathic schools have more of a “holistic” focus, thinking about the whole person in treating disease. These schools also train in osteopathic manipulative medicine, which involves manipulating the body in order to treat disease. These schools are all private schools and generally have lower average GPA and MCAT scores for entering students than allopathic schools, although as you can see, they’re not that much lower.Touro University College of Osteopathic MedicineUS News and World Report: Not rankedLocation: Vallejo, CAAverage MCAT: 28.9Average GPA: 3.45Tuition: $42,000Public/Private: PrivateAccepts International Students: Yes, but must hold either US Citizenship or US Permanent Resident Status.
