Dull.Very dull.Nevada is my home (I have lived there more than half of my life and one day, I may do so again) and it is a beautiful state in its own way with many outdoor activities of which one can partake. However, it also a terribly dull place to live.I'm from Reno and I can honestly saw that most of my favorite memories of the area were leaving it to go somewhere else (usually Northern California) to have fun. There really isn't anything to do in Reno and that hasn't changed in the more than 14 years since I lived there full time.If you don't:HuntFishSkiDrinkGambleThere really isn’t much else going on. Coupled with the serious lack of cultural events and the relative isolation of the area (The closest major city is Sacramento, two hours away. this is followed by the Bay Area which is 4+)Most major musical acts pass Northern Nevada by, few famous authors come to town for events, the symphony and the opera are sub-par and the most interesting museum features a selection of ...automobiles. There is a bowling stadium in the downtown area..if you are in to bowling...that is.Frankly the biggest advantages of living in Nevada are:Low taxesRelatively low crime rates (even in Las Vegas)Plenty of scenic beauty300+ days a year of sunshineRelatively few natural disastersIf those things which appeal to you, if you can get past the high unemployment rate and the lack of many social activities, then Nevada is the place for you.
