PDF Editor FAQ

Is boxing "street effective"?

Yes, extremely.I know because I was beaten to a pulp by a boxer that looked like Napoleon Dynamite. To describe myself, I do not consider myself an easy target. I am 5 ft 9 tall and weighed about 210 at the time. Not tall, but I wrestled and fenced through college, and I never once ended up lying on the ground after a fight. This Napoleon Dynamite guy looked about 6 ft tall, but there was no way he weighed more than 160 lbs. I thought I could take the guy without much effort but boy…boxers are different. I learned that the hard way. Here are things I learned fighting (getting beat up by) a trained boxer. They move differently. Street fights are usually one-dimensional, you either approach the guy or move away from the guy, but boxers moves are three-dimensional, they know it is easier to punch a fella from the side. Also, even when they are stationary, boxers will use their waist, back, and legs to throw or avoid a punch.Their punches are efficient. Boxers do not throw a haymaker like a regular Joe, in a fight. Boxers’ punches serve various purposes, to keep a distance, to confuse(bait) the opponent etc. They can fight for a long time. As you all know, fighting a dude is extremely exhausting, you will run out of your breath quickly, and you will feel your fists weighing like bowling balls after a minute or so into the fight. But boxers know how to pace themselves, and have better stamina. While realizing all this, I lost track of time, and senses. All I heard was people yelling “World Starrrr” as I was lying on the street.Never fight a boxer unless you really really have to.

What did you collect as a child, but threw away later in life? Do you regret your choice now?

Rosary peas.We used to live in a suburb in chennai, a city in the southern part of India. My friend and I used to play in the empty plots near our house and quite often, jump into other houses to do random things. The whole area had several trees and plants, wild as well as homegrown. There was a tree inside a house which scattered these small red seeds around the house, on the street, etc.We were intrigued by these seeds and started collecting them. Our most prized possession was this!Just imagine. A whole tin box of these collected over 5 years!Something like this.At last count, we had more than 5000 beads collected! We used to arrange them in different shapes, count and recount, collect a few more to reach the nearest hundred or thousand.I threw it away when I shifted from that house in the last few years of school.Ah, those days when happiness was simple. Thanks for reading!Images courtesy:Are Rosary Peas Poisonous?Vintage Tin collectingABRUS PRECATORIUS 100 Seeds Red Gumchi Gunja Gunchi Rosary Pea Sailors Valentine | eBay

Is it rude and do you get annoyed when someone plays loud music on the subway, bus, street, etc…?

Is playing loud music in public rude? OMG, yes it is.Look, eons and eons ago, when the world was new, people had transistor radios, which they carried with them. I’m told that they would listen to music, and more importantly, the ball game on those radios, and even if they held them up to their ears, others would hear the sound.Later, but still eons ago, people had boom boxes. Not only did they supply portable music, but were essentially portable parties for those who didn’t have rec rooms or other private places.Neither of those devices had headphone capacity.Today, in the 21st century, everyone has a portable device capable of playing music or listening to sports, or a podcast, or an audio book. Each and every one of those devices comes with headphones or earbuds or some other method to make the sound go directly into the users head. Listening to a portable device without headphones is not only rude, but will almost certainly be an inferior listening experience. It is invasive, rude, and presumptive to think that anyone else in your subway car cares about the thing you like listening to. It also interferes with what other people may be listening to, or reading, or the conversation they’re having.A ride on a crowded subway is stressful enough without being unable to get away from someone else’s blaring musical selection, and yes, it does piss me off.
