What is your opinion on the 81% funding of BJP coming from the unknown sources?Before sharing my opinion on this question, let me tell you something interesting. You must have heard of ‘Vedanta’, a UK based company, a foreign company.According to FCRA Act 2010, a political party can't accept donations from a foreign company or a foreign company can't make donations to a political party. But BJP violated the law and accepted donations from Vedanta. When Congress lead UPA found about this violation of law, they questioned Vedanta. But instead of taking action against Vedanta and BJP, they made a settlement with Vedanta that the Vedanta will also donate to the Congress.In 2014, while listening to a PIL, the Delhi High court found both Congress and BJP guilty for accepting donations from a foreign company, 'Vedanta'.The Delhi High Court directed the Central Government and the Election Commission to take strong action against both the political parties.Meanwhile, it was the time, the NDA replaced the UPA at the centre, Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister and Arun Jaitley became the Finance Minister.Though, the centre government went on appeal and the matter was pending in the supreme court. Arun Jaitley found a unique way to save both the BJP and Congress party by retrospectively amending the FCRA Act (by silently routing it through money bill) in 2016. This amendment in the FCRA Act changed the definition of a foreign company, now any foreign company having its subsidiary in India can donate to the political parties. Thus, it nullified the illegality commited by both the parties.The interesting part is that Kapil Sibal, a reputed leader of Congress was representing both BJP and Congress in the Supreme Court. The appeal was later withdrawn from the Supreme Court, because according to amended FRCA, both parties haven't violated any law.[1]This possibly can be a huge threat to the Indian democracy and national security, but both the political parties chose to save themselves by compromising on it. It is for everyone to see how nationalist these parties are.Now, coming to your actual question.I did already know that BJP was receiving much of their funding form the unknown sources, same goes to Congress. Just visit the website 'myneta.info’, “Financial Information (Donation & Income-Expenditure)”, and know about the donations and expenditure of the political parties, it is an Indian subset of ADR.But here is a ‘BIG’ question. It only includes the disclosed income and expenditures of the political parties. What about the undisclosed income and expenditure? The WTS is being prudent with the donated funds. A new arrangement came in about 2014. No congregation has to fund their own hall anymore. All halls are built from a common fund.When halls were owned by each congregation often maintenance was put off due to lack of funds. Some of these halls after a whole needed a lot of money spent in them to bring them up to standard. This happened in the area where I live Three KHs built in the 1980s needed a lot of maintenance they were all sold. Each KH was used by one congregation. A new KH was built and all three congregations used the one hall. That makes sense to use one building more times each week, then having three sit idle most of the week.There is a great need for KHs in many countries. As the WTS now funds all these halls and the major maintenance of them, ant extra funds form the sale of old halls now goes into new builds and maintain older ones.

The Foundation was required to meet several NY and Federal laws in order to solicit contributions and remain tax-free. Donald Trump initially funded the trust with several million dollars of his own money. After the first few years, neither Trump nor his family made any more contributions. Instead, the Foundation solicited donations from various business contacts and other foundations which would have been legal had the Foundation not been so sloppy and failed to register in New York for donation solicitation. Mistake number one.After the first few years, the Foundation simply became a conduit for other people’s money (which is how Trump funded his bankrupt casinos), it entered into several prohibited transactions. Specifically paying a personal fine of Donald Trump’s business with Foundation funds and also purchasing a portrait of Trump for one of his resorts.Each year the Foundation is required to file Form 990 with the IRS and these are public documents. Anyone can review the disclosures of the sources and uses of the funds.Form 990, 990 Tax FormsThe State of New York has scrutinized these returns and initiated an investigation into the Foundation’s operations and its directors. Trump’s children are directors of the Foundation and are liable for its compliance with State and federal laws. Rather than accept NY sanctions for improperly managing the Foundation, the family has chosen to fight NY. The Trump Organization’s CFO, Allen Weisselberg, is also Treasurer for the Foundation and was recently granted limited immunity as part of the Cohen investigation. NY may attempt to piggyback on that immunity and dig deeper into the funding and disbursements of the Foundation.Was the Foundation initially set up for illegal activities? I doubt it. But the arrogance of the Trump family and their callous attitude towards the rule of law has created a situation that is not curable by a Presidential pardon. Nor are Trump’s children protected from prosecution while Trump is president. It will be interesting to see what comes from New York’s investigation and subsequent prosecution of the directors of the Foundation.
