Telangana, the youngest state of India, is marching towards its momentous journey of becoming a highly developed state, with all-round welfare and development programs. The state has secured its unique position among other states in terms of its geography, resources, talent pool, vibrant culture and pro- active industry and business friendly policies. The Government of Telangana invites companies and organizations all over India and the world to take part in ‘Happening Hyderabad’, to organize various events in the city for 52 weeks in a year. 'Happening Hyderabad' is a unique initiative in the leisure and entertainment segment conceptualized by Shri. Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister. 'Happening Hyderabad' is based on a concept called “52 weeks and 52 events”. The idea behind the concept is to enhance the city's cosmopolitan quotient, which will make it a truly international city.The campaign has been created to support and encourage events related to arts, culture, sports, hobby, entrepreneurship etc., to enhance community engagement and interaction to strengthen the event industry. The official support from the state government for organizing events for 365 days in a year, makes the programme unique and attractive to event organizers and agencies. This is the latest industry-friendly move by the Government of Telangana to leverage Hyderabad’s unique position as a leading destination of Meetings, Incentives, Conferencing and Exhibitions (MICE) in India and South Asia. This unique initiative aimed at giving a fillip to “Brand Hyderabad” in the leisure and entertainment segment was launched by the Telangana Government recently. The objective behind the concept is that for Hyderabad to become a truly global city there has to be leisure and lifestyle events happening every week and isolated events may not be enough. The city has world-class infrastructure coupled with an old world charm and therefore, more events will help in attracting investments as well as talent.There have been many new developments happening in the Nawab city thus adding extra grandeur to the city in every field available. In one of the most awaited events, the cable-stayed bridge on Durgam Cheruvu was formally thrown open to the public by Shri. KTR on 25th September. Durgam Cheruvu becomes the new jewel for the city of pearls. It is not just a convenient construction to connect two points by spanning a water body but also the world's longest span concrete deck extra-dosed cable-stayed bridge. While driving on the bridge, people get overwhelmed by the skyline views unfolding in front of them. The 238-metre-long bridge was constructed at a cost of Rs 180 crore under the Strategic Road Development Programme and is being hailed across the country as an engineering marvel. Rao also inaugurated the 4-lane elevated corridor from Road No.45 to Durgam Cheruvu. The elevated corridor, 1,740 metres long and 16.60 metres wide, connects to the cable-stayed bridge to facilitate free flow of traffic between Hitec City, Madhapur and Gachibowli. The Minister also launched two boats for tourists to enjoy the scenic ambience at the lake. This has made it the hotspot of the city to relax and rejuvenate. The bridge was initially closed during the weekends for vehicular traffic and was later opened in view of traffic hindrances due to heavy rains. The Cyberabad traffic police has fined 822 commuters for traffic violations like halting on the bridge, riding without helmet, triple riding, using cell phones while driving and unauthorised parking on the bridge. Dangerous acts of visitors on cable-stayed bridge like posing for pictures in the middle of the road and crossing dangerously were captured on CCTV cameras and reported for immediate action. The cops have warned the public from performing such acts.A Panchatatva Park with walkway based on the concept of accupressure was inaugurated by KTR at Indira Park on November 15. The park which was developed at a cost of Rs.17 lakhs at the Indira Park has cross-walk, infinity walk, Yoga shed, ‘Raasi Vanam’, open gym and herbal plants, and has facilities for different age groups. There is also a proposal to provide one more open gym as about 6,500 to 6,800 were visiting Indira Park. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has taken development of parks in a big way in the city and these include development of 300 tree parks and 50 theme based parks.The prestigious 'Buddhavanam' project at Nagarjunsagar in Telangana is the first of its kind and the largest Buddhist heritage theme park in the world. The park coming up in 275 acres will feature monasteries, eco tourism resorts, cottages, food courts and much more. The beautifully themed, crafted theme park that aims to showcase a glimpse of the glorious, yet humble, life of Gautama Buddha is all set to be thrown open to the public.As of now, the Phase-I works at Buddhavanam, which is being developed at an estimated cost of 65 crores and spread across 274 acres, have been completed. The long-pending project aims to bring foreign tourists into the State. This is the country’s biggest Buddhist circuit, which also houses Asia’s biggest dome consisting of a stupa. The site is not just going to be a major national tourist destination, but also an excellent International tourist attraction, especially for those from Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Tibet, and other South-East Asian countries. The project has multiple attraction points, including Buddha Chaithravanam, Jathaka Chakra Park, Dhyana Vanam Park, Maha Stupa, Buddhist Museum, and Lower Krishna Valley Park. While the Jataka Park showcases selected tales of Buddha, the intricate carvings on the walls of the Maha Stupa will be a breathtaking view. It also houses the Acharya Nagarjuna International Higher Buddhist Learning Centre.In the meanwhile, KTR also hinted at the return of double-decker buses to the city after a few netizens requested the same in social media. He has requested the concerned authorities in TSRTC (Telangana State Road Transport Corporation) to check the possibilities of bringing them back. It is to be noted that around 50 such buses were operated in Hyderabad till they were phased out in the early 2000s.A skywalk, that will make life easier for pedestrians, will come up near the busy Mehdipatnam Rythu Bazaar area with Minister KT Rama Rao approving the detailed designs on 4th of November. This project is aimed at improving pedestrian movement at one of the busiest junctions and most congested roads in the city. The skywalk has an overall travel length of approximately 380 metres including above ground retail activity. The vertical connectivity towards the skywalk is introduced through a glass enclosure (modules) consisting of a staircase and a lift. It is proposed at 6.15 metres level to provide sufficient clearance for vehicle movement below as per IRC standards.It is envisaged that after the completion of the skywalk, vehicular flow will significantly improve and pedestrians will have a comfortable option to move from one side of the Expressway to the other.The multipurpose sports complex at the Sanath Nagar playground, which was a dream for many sportspersons and youngsters for years has finally become a reality, with ministers KTR and Yadav Talasani inaugurating it on 13th November. The State government has been taking up several development works, as part of which Rao later inaugurated a modernised graveyard at Balkampet, a sports complex at the Labour Welfare Centre, a sports complex at Ghasmandi, Monda Market, a new Library Building at Audaiah Nagar and a multipurpose function hall at Marredpally besides laying the foundation for a theme park in Nehru Nagar.KTR also announced the largest FDI in the history of Telangana which is the investment of ₹20,761 Cr ($ 2.77 Bn) by Amazon Web Services (AWS) to set up multiple data centers in Telangana. The AWS Cloud Hyderabad region is expected to be launched by mid 2022. For those who are unaware, Amazon’s largest campus in the world (3 Mn Sq Ft) and their largest FC in Asia are also located in Hyderabad. All this became possible in the last 4 years. This shows how well the partnership of Amazon & Telangana have grown from strength to strength over the years.Giving a fresh boost to the film industry, the Cinema City of Hyderabad with international standards will be established by the State government on the outskirts of Hyderabad in 1,500-2,000 acres. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao made an announcement in this regard and instructed officials to send a delegation, comprising government officials and film industry representatives, to visit the Cinema City in Bulgaria to prepare necessary proposals for setting up the new film city. The State government has the idea of setting up a world-class Cinema City of Hyderabad for which the government will acquire 1,500-2,000 acres. Land will be allocated to film production companies to set up studios with state-of-the-art technologies and suit the future needs. The proposed film city will also include an airstrip.Minister KTR inaugurated a 19.8 MW waste to energy (WtE) plant at Jawahar Nagar on 10th November. Built by GHMC, it is the first Waste to Energy Plant in South India. It is expected to convert about 1200 tonnes per day of municipal solid waste will be converted into green power. This 19.8 MW plant is the most modern Waste to Energy plant in India today and the GHMC will be further adding 28 MW in the same site in 18 months and another 15 MW at Dundigal. The combined 63 MW of waste to energy processing capacity will take care of waste treatment till 2030 in the city.With many revolutionary projects coming to the fore, the city of pearls is becoming the jewel of India by all means.
