You are missing the distinction between “I don't believe God exists” and “I believe God does not exist.” These are not identical statements. One is an absence of belief, and one is a belief of absence.Consider a scientist undertaking a new piece of research. She does not believe her hypothesis is true, because she has not tested it sufficiently. However, she also does not believe her hypothesis is false, because she has not tested it sufficiently. She remains agnostic on the validity of her hypothesis.

In the late 1990’s I received a summons in the post for an alleged traffic offence. I had no recollection of a traffic stop so I contacted a solicitor for assistance. The Police provided statements saying that they had pulled me over after I had committed a traffic violation. Two Police Officers stated that they were together in the Police car that stopped me. Both Officers provided identical statements, which stated that they stopped me at a location on certain time and exact date. However the date didn’t exist! The Police stated that they issued me with a ticket to produce my documents. A copy of this ticket stated that they issued this ticket on a different day to the statement, and the ticket stated that I was stopped at a location 2 miles from where their statements said I had been.So I had two Police Officers saying I was issued with a ticket in a different location to that given in their statement. Both stating it was on a date that didn’t exist. Both provided identical statements.In court all these inconsistencies were pointed out. and when asked why their statements matched, they admitted sitting together to complete identical statements so they would match.After all the evidence was completed the three magistrates retired for deliberations. 5 hours later they stated that they had to believe the Officers statements even with the inconsistencies and errors and that as a result I was guilty of committing the traffic offence, penalty £300 fine and points on my licence.So yes Police Officers do collude to make their statements match. I still to this day have no recollection of a stop occurring.It just so happens that I was at the time going through a divorce and my ex-wife was at that time dating a Police Officer.I have had comment saying I am not clear about the dates And need to explain how dates cannot exist.For an example I have had to pick a random date as I cannot remember the exact date in question. But In both he Police statements they said they stopped me at 1402Hrs on Sunday 5th May 1992. Very precise and accurate time and date but entirely ficticious. The 5th May 1992 was not a Sunday but a Tuesday. So in both Statements according to the Police I was stopped on a day that did not exist.

About a year ago I had had major knee surgery and was in a wheelchair, but we had been invited to a friends birthday bash at a large pub in town. He woke up in hospital with a broken nose, upper and lower jaws. Due to all the witnesses giving near identical statements, the police charged him with sexual assault. As they say in Thailand, “Song Num Nah” Serve you right.
