I didn't understand this when I was in middle school. Doc Atkinson was a very wise man. He was a lawyer at one time in his life. I'm not sure if "Doc" was an honorific or what, but he was a math teacher when I knew him. A heavy-set guy who I for some reason remember looking like Colonel Sanders mixed with Jason Robards, he was one of the few teachers I respected, partially because he was compassionate and tried hard not to send me to the office during a year when I was getting sent to the office by every other teacher on a regular basis.Towards the end of a class period, the class started packing up early. This isn't an uncommon phenomenon in classes. It's usually during the last minute or so of class. This day, we must have been trying to pack up something like five minutes early. He stopped us, then started talking about time. I'm going to kind of paraphrase what he said, since it was said back in 1988 or 1989."You'll be in here for 180 days. If you pack up five minutes early every day, that equals 900 minutes this year. That's 15 hours. Imagine that. Look at the clock. Stare it it while I talk about what a minute feels like." We watched as he narrated a minute. What once felt like a few seconds now drew out to what felt like an hour. "Notice how the hand, when you look at it, slows down. It's taking forever as it passes the five towards the six. Notice how the nine feels like forever from now?" When it finally hit twelve, he told us that we were willing to do that for five full revolutions of the second hand. Why? All because five minutes wasn't enough time to do anything. It had no value."Time is the most expensive commodity in the world. You'll find someone who is willing to give you money for your time. It's called a job. At the end of your life, when you've wasted lots of time, try finding someone who will trade you time for your money. It isn't happening. You'll sit there, regretting all of the minutes and even seconds that you wasted."I'm sure others have said it. I've said it in my class dozens of times. I've added to Doc Atkinson's speech. "The average lifespan is around 75 years. You'll spend roughly 1/3 of that asleep. At that point, you're down to 50 years of being awake. Subtract time you've spent watching bad TV, standing in line, waiting at traffic lights, cleaning, pumping gas, filling out forms, listening to pompous windbags like me, and all of the other ways in which we waste time, and you'll have maybe 15 minutes of real joy. Every second is worth something. The time you spend working now is time you get to enjoy later."I doubt my high school students understand what I'm saying, but maybe they'll think back and remember it someday. Thanks, Doc!

How much is he worth? 800 million dollars.8.Emma Frost — She's been rebooted many times over the years, but one thing has remained constant: her wealthy background. As the CEO of Frost Enterprises, she's worth about 900 million dollars.7. Obadiah Stane- He took over Stark Industries whenever Tony couldn't manage it, and at that point, was worth about 3– 5 billion dollars.6. Norman and Harry Osborn — As the green goblin, and the presidents of Oscorp, the family company, they have to their disposal billions of dollars worth of tech. They're worth approximately 9 billion dollars.5.Otto Octavius/Peter Parker — When Otto Octavius “killed” Peter Parker he inhabited his body, and instead of wasting Peters potential as a photographer, he formed a company, Parker Industries, that quickly overtook Oscorp. As it's CEO, Peter/ Doc Ock has to their personal disposal about 10 — 20 billion dollars.4. Kingpin — a primarily Spider-Man villain, he's the head of one of the largest criminal enterprises in America. All that brings a lot of money. Specifically 40 billion dollars.3.Erik Killmonger — Now this one isn't necessarily true all the time, only for the short time he took over as King of Wakanda. As the king, everything in Wakanda technically belongs to him, including the vibranium, which all together fetches about 80 trillion dollars.2.Namor— He isn't technically a villain, he merely does what he feels is right. Who is he? The king of the ocean and seas. It's never stated how rich he is, but he's supposed to be REALLY rich considering the fact that he is technically the ruler of 70% of the Earth. All of that, plus what's inside should fetch a pretty large sum. REALLY large. So large that I can't put a number on it.1.Molecule Man- A pretty much unknown villain, who has an extraordinary power: creation. He can LITERALLY create anything. There's no limit to his power either, so imagine how much money he can make. His net worth: unlimited.

Research is 10% brain and 90% mundane.The core of academic research is carried out by the “Post-Doctoral” candidates in most of the technologically advanced countries. Post-Docs form the backbone of research and these are the guys who really move mountains in research. Post-docs from all around the world flock to these developed countries to work on the most challenging problems.However, in India, you will rarely find any postdocs in the top-notch laboratory because the fresh PhDs fly out of India and those with PhDs, who you come across, must be in the process to get out of the country. So, complete academic research falls into the hands of PhDs. Rather, PhDs assisted by M.Techs. B. Techs are more for grades, CAT/GRE/TOEFL/GATE.The decision (yet to be implemented) of the govt will give a severe blow to this “PhD assisted M.Tech” research structure of India. Demotivating master students when post-docs are not available will reduce in number or quality of cheap labor (in a symbiotic sense) for PhDs/Profs. Add to this the extended bureaucratic procedure a Ph.D. go through to implement his research. You need to have good quality dedicated master student in your lab to carry out day to day research activities. Good “qualities” in research are generally motivation and dedication which have little to do with intelligence and so-called “merit”. Because research is 10% brain and 90% mundane. You repeat experiments/simulations day in day out rather than doing only creative work. Once the idea for research hs been developed it becomes more of mundane activity.Add to this the publication process, which India severely lacks. Writing and reporting take a huge amount of research time. Every senior research student must have a couple of manuscripts being written in the background of day to day research.Further, ask yourself, How many IIT BTech are there in a high-end research lab of ISRO?? How many IIT BTechs have ended up as chairman of ISRO? Surprised??Then who are these guys who run the research in India? The answer is: these M.Techs whom you blame are leaving the IITs. The M.Techs/PhDs from IITs and the B.Tech from NITs are answerable for research in India. This will change in the near future.Let's not make it a BTech vs Mtech issue. This year IITs are opening up for ASEAN students, maybe there is something in store and there must be some reason. Let the experts in these topics write on this issue.Who knows the answer when we live in a high tech uncertain era!!So, lets wait and watch!!
