PETA lost their pre trial arguments, even going as far as trying to say that the family were illegal immigrants and shouldn’t be allowed to own an animal, and wound up having to pay the family $49,000.PETA has also been called out for being racist, with them defending Denver’s ban on Pit Bulls due to fact that “Migration dramatically changed the population of the city”, because too many White people moved away and too many Latinos moved in. They also supported then mayor of New York Ed Koch for trying to ban Pit Bulls because of “Who was thought to own them.” They also supported a similar ban in the city of Sterling Heights, Michigan—a city that once excluded African Americans, because “We have inner-city people who bought homes here.” PETA’s “Community Animal Project” has been proven, by statistical numbers released by ex and current PETA employees who are disgusted with their actions, to target mostly poor, immigrant, Spanish-Speaking and African American communities because they feel they can get away with stealing their pets without any repercussions due to the families living situation.PETA President Ingrid Newkirk has gone on record in interviews as stating that she wants to implement Breed Specific Legislation, making it a crime to live with or own certain dogs because of what species they are, or even because of how they look.
