PDF Editor FAQ

Where is the best cafe to work from in Ho Chi Minh? I’m looking for good wi-fi, great coffee, awesome food, and a relaxed atmosphere based in district 1.

These used to be my "second" offices:Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf - The Metropolitan Bldg location has a great view of the Cathedral and but my favorite was sitting on the 2nd floor of Thai Van Lung locationCentro Cafe - next to Caravel hotel, the staff actually knows how to reset the wifi routerL'Usine - hidden upstairs on Dong Khoi St; awesome sandwiches and you do a lot shopping for very hip clothingHideaway Cafe - tucked away in quiet alley in District 3; great vibe and food menuCafe Terrance - great blended juices, decent menu and fun to people watchCiao Lounge - on Nguyen Hue street. Sit on the 3rd floor, as each of the floor as different feel. Makes you forget you're in VN at timesOn the 6th - upscale in looks, but menu is not bad, and people just simply over look this place... so not many people hogging up bandwidth

What surprised you about Malaysia?

I've been to KL not too long ago. Here's a summary of what I noticed:1. Most vehicles had immaculate body work, even the older ones. I'm not sure what the secret is.2. Cash notes always seem to be new and crisp.3. Clothing was really cheap compared to other places I've been to.4. Drivers generally seemed to be less aggressive & very courteous to pedestrians.5. English was widely spoken.6. The Arab nationals seem to dominate the barber shop business7. The Chinese seem to own prime property within the main business district (or so I'm led to believe)8. Drainage was really poor, unbearable smells from the drains were really bad in even popular parts of the City. Drainage covers are poorly designed, making it a nightmare to get a wheelchair or pram over.9. I was really shocked to notice rodents, lots of them running all over the place, over motor bikes, in the bins & drains just a few meters away from a popular street food scene. The locals didn't seem to bothered by them.10. Most malls Íve been to did not seem to be paraplegic friendly. Pavements & change of levels where really challenging. Even some large malls don't appear to have accessible entrances other than stairs.11. Low income under-developed residential areas in walking distance from the iconic Petronas skyscrapers. Some of the above points mentioned highlight a sharp contrast of development which was really not expected even though it may not be too different from other places around the world. However, Malaysia seem to have been well marketed, giving a pre-conceived idea that set it above the rest in my mind, raising my expectations. This can be explained by the following article I read lately: https://www.huffingtonpost.com/janis-powers/how-the-malaysians-used-a_b_5781640.html

Is the Philippines less developed and advanced than Vietnam?

The question is contradictory. But I will address each of the two parts:Is the Philippines less developed than Vietnam? The Philippines have a lower GDP per capita than Vietnam, but the difference is not significant and doesn’t reflect development. It can be said that the Philippines and Vietnam are at a similar level of civil development. Both countries have a basic level of infrastructure but lack the civil infrastructure of other advanced countries. This refers to the planning and development of cities. Both Vietnam and the Philippines lack a well functioning public transportation system. And the existing infrastructure cannot meet the demand of citizens.Manila - The roads, although wide and extensive, are constantly in gridlocks.Hanoi - Vietnamese cities are too compact and need more public transport. Rapid transit system is incomplete.2. Is the Philippines more advanced than Vietnam? It is hard to identify which country is more advanced as this depends on the criteria used for assessment. The Philippines specialises in Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) while Vietnam focuses on manufacturing.Manila - Makati Business District - where you can find offices of all international companies outsourcing their business processes to the Philippines.Ho Chi Minh City - Saigon Hi Tech Park where you can find factories and training centre for manufacturing.Vietnam and Philippines simply chose different models for development. You won’t find companies that outsource their customer service centric roles to Vietnam. In this front, the Philippines is more advanced.Vietnam does have a growing software development outsourcing industry, and other industries that rely on hard skills rather than soft skills or language ability.Vietnam is growing in manufacturing and export. In this front, Vietnam is more advanced than the Philippines.Vietnam’s top exports in 2019:Electrical machinery, equipment: US$126.9 billion (41.7% of total exports)Footwear: $24.7 billion (8.1%)Clothing, accessories (not knit or crochet): $16.9 billion (5.5%)Machinery including computers: $16.7 billion (5.5%)Knit or crochet clothing, accessories: $16.1 billion (5.3%)Furniture, bedding, lighting, signs, prefabricated buildings: $12.3 billion (4.1%)Philippines top exports in 2019:Electrical machinery, equipment: US$34.7 billion (49.3% of total exports)Machinery including computers: $10.6 billion (15.1%)Fruits, nuts: $2.6 billion (3.7%)Optical, technical, medical apparatus: $2.2 billion (3.1%)Gems, precious metals: $1.6 billion (2.3%)Copper: $1.4 billion (2%)
