PDF Editor FAQ

If you could pick the names for the next five elements on the Periodic Table (currently undiscovered), what would you name them?

I would like to represent all that is underrepresented on the table. That’s hard to do with just 5 elements, but this would be a good start:As such, I’d like 119 to be Africium, because Africa is not on the table at all, despite being the birthplace of our species.120 would be McAuliffium, for Christa McAuliffe, a hero to women, to teachers, to scientists, to me, and for us all.121 would be Alvarecium, for Luis and Walter Alvarez, Latino scientists, a Nobel prize winner, and developers of the theory that an impact from space killed the dinosaurs.122 would be Lovelacium, for Ada Lovelace. Without computer programming, and people who were unafraid to break from convention, we would know far less than we know now.And 123 would be Johnsonium, for Katherine Johnson, the woman who put Americans into space with the power of mathematics.Three women would bring the total number of women on the table to five. Johnson would be (to my knowledge) the only person of African descent on the table, and the Luis and Walter the only Latinos.I’d love to hear suggestions and comments on my choices!

Could other alien civilizations develop completely different technology as we humans have?

Completely different… No.Followed different technological paths… Yes.Here's the thing. The periodic table is the same everywhere you go in the universe. So scientific development has to follow a certain established path. And not just the periodic table mind you. Math is also the same throughout the universe. In some alien world a wheel is still a wheel. So math as well needed to be followed. They couldn't simply bypass what we had to go through. What you can say is that they focused their technology in areas that we aren't even considering. For example… Biology!Unlike us they may have never put limitations in genetic engineering and they could've even arrived at a point where their technology is both cybernetic and biological.Maybe instead of building structures, they grow them. Maybe instead of assembling a vehicle they grow them.It isn't as far fetched as you might think it is.If we humans hadn't put so many limitations on genetic engineering and gene therapy, COVID might have never been a problem in the first place. But it was and it is a problem.Maybe their technology is both physical and mental. Which is something people also don't think about.Another possible scenario is that because they aren't as divided specie's like we are, they have come together as a species and have discovered new elements that aren't even part of the periodic table.Perhaps they are so advanced, that to them Quantum Physics is something they have already mastered. While we are still scratching our heads trying to understand it.In the end we should of course look first to ourselves. Seeing we are not heading down a good path.As a species we are divisive, conflictive, and sometimes downright lunatic.
