When you return an item back to the Amazon in unopened condition, it is restocked and seller incurs the cost of shipping. However, the case is different, if the product is returned in opened packaging.Most of the products have their own packaging, which is once opened, it cannot be sold as new product because it is not open-box product. For example: almost all electronic goods have their own packaging. The loss for the same is poured on seller + shipping cost. Moreover, Amazon takes up to 2 months to get these products stocked back on seller’s account. Many times, seller experiences big losses.I also joined Amazon as a seller and experienced big loss. Now, I am not selling anything on Amazon. Let me share my experiences.One of my jewellery product worth Rs 699 was sold on Amazon. Buyer used the product, marked some scratched on stones and returned it within 10 days policy. Amazon took more then 2 months to return the same product back to our address. It was evident that product cannot be sold to anyone. In order to prove the scratches, we required macro photography help to prove the scratches, which would cost us Rs 180 per shot and no professional would have visited us for one single shot. Therefore, it costs us the Rs699 + Delivery charges + other charges as loss.The another big problem is that it is always a loss for a seller to work with Amazon. After seeing repeated returns in damaged conditions, we raised the Return-Inventory request of 109 products (Handbags + Jewellery). Amazon took more than a month to raise return. Now, the problem started. The delivery boy brought a small box of 2ftX2ft. We knew that it cannot contain our 109 products therefore we rejected the delivery. Amazon callcenter boy requested us to collect the box and promised that any missing inventory will be returned or reimbursed. The return inventory delivery was rescheduled after 2 weeks but now box was different (little larger and damaged box). Again it was evident that it cannot contain our 109 products but we accepted the delivery and photographed+made a video of the delivery. The box contained only 35 handbags and that is too in damaged condition. They did not return us even the singe unit of jewellery. Its been approx 3 months now, we are waiting for our products. Amazon reimbursed us only Rs1650 against 4units of Rs2600.Amazon did not reimbursed us against the damages on the products + cost of approx 76 missing products. So, it’s always a big loss for sellers directly or indirectly.Edit:I wrote an email to Amazon CEO during the first week of Nov, 2017 as the issue was not resolved and wanted them to learn what is happening behind the scene. I shared the video links to let them know the facts including some other google drive links as well. You will be surpriced to know that they got my youtube channel suspended. And, one agent from the support team sent me same canned message like what I used to receive in past. Without even researching the details mentioned in the email which I wrote them, I was again asked which issue out of those mentioned in the email I wish to get re-checked. How insane is that? Means they dont understand simple things simply. They know that I have recieved 35% stock in damaged form and rest of the stock is still with them. And, in fact, I have paid them for returning the whole stock too. And, they these idiots are not able to understand simple things. No further contact from there end. And, I found it loss of time+money working with Amazon. Guys! Don’t repeat mistakes.I will report the video links here soon.
