Here’s the kicker:I used to. I hate it now.Now, you must understand: when I say I used to, I mean I used to. I loved it, I thought it was great! I was a big fan. I had terrible taste, and I will stand by that statement.I honestly couldn’t tell you what about it appealed to me back then. It wasn’t even that long ago! I think the last time I read a fic for it was in like, 2016. 2017, *maybe*, but probably not. Hopefully not.From 2012 until 2016, I was a fan of ‘harmony’Now, I’m a critic of Harmione.How the turn tables, huh?So, for my current opinion: No.I hate the trend of turning platonic, specifically-stated-to-be-sibling-relationships/specifically-stated-to-having-zero-attraction relationships into romance, when there’s no clear backing for it.(EG, early seasons Barchie, before RD ruined itself. Not an EG: Sciles, because Stiles is CLEARY into that ass, like he LITERALLY SAID IT, OUT LOUD, and Scott’s got some fun things going on too)How does that make any sense at all? Well, I’ll tell you. Harry never once thinks of Hermione as ‘beautiful’, excluding the one time he thinks she looks nothing like herself - and he’s not right pleased by this! He calls her his sister. And I feel like there’s a removal of agency occuring when someone decides: No, you don’t. You’re attracted to her, physcially and romantically, because I say so. No, you don’t, because she’s your Female Best Friend, and everyone knows that the Female Best Friend is The Love interest in Every Media Ever Made, what are you talking about? Shut up, of course they were meant to be together! Strong relationships are based on strong foundations of friendship!Stop. Think. Also, let the orphan choose his family, for god’s sake. If he wants Older Sister Hermione, goddamnit, he can have Older Sister Hermione! That’s valid!!!Additionally, the same goes for Hermione. She’s the Leading Lady, so of course she has to be with the Leading Man! Nevermind that he’s not even remotely her type, nevermind that she clearly takes on a sibling-type role, the older sister who’s trying to look out for him by - well - nagging and lecturing.They also don’t have much in common. And Harry prefers other people’s company, and it’s not a great foundation for a relationship for one half to be thinking things along the same lines as, basically, it’s not as fun being Hermione’s best friend as Harry would like having someone as his best friend to be.Ouch.Also, Hermione’s psychology 101 analysis of Harry’s emotional state & ‘saving people thing’ (brilliant phrasing there, you definitely did your research, that sounds super professional, well done) isn’t particularly romantic in the fifth book, and none of the other absolutely amazing things she’s done like schedule an interview with Rita Fucking Skeeter without asking during Harry’s date???? Nice one Hermione you’re the best - are particularly romantic, either.In fact, Hermione’s not very considerate of Harry at all. And Harry isn’t very considerate of her, either. Good lord, he’s made her cry, and yes, she cries quiet easily, but Hermione can legitimately sometimes be afraid of Harry, which is not something you want in a relationship.They’re friends, yes, and they only work as friends. If they dated you’d find two dead bodies in the kitchen a week later. It wouldn’t be a fun time for anyone, least of all them.Also, Hermione’s jealousy thing. It’s a clear, obvious problem - and it’s dangerous. To the subject of her desires. She’s downright awful to Ron in the books… because she likes him. She *hates* the prince’s notes… because she wants to know how he came up with them; she wants to be the smartest person in the room at all times, even (and perhaps especially) when there’s a professional present. I don’t wish that on Ron, most of the time (to clarify, I never wish pain on him - I simply accept begrudingly that Hermione makes him happy, and allow her to exist in his space without complaining… much… some of the time. Most of the time I don’t write them together, because I’m not very good at it. My Hermione dislike shines through too much. I’ll probably regret having written that in the morning - I’m less lenient when I’m tired, and it’s midnight here rn).Harry hates conflict. Hermione loves conflict. Oh dear. That’s all.Hermione triggers harry’s CAPSLOCK SHOUTY MODE and nobody wants that, least of all Hermione and HarryHermione doesn’t understand Quidditch. Harry leaves the room in disgust at the suggestion you have made in saying he’d ever date anyone that doesn’t understand quidditch. Harry is like a less obsessive and openly insane Oliver Wood.So, basically: They both have way more chemistry with Ron and I’d rather ship Ronarry than this mess goodbye!More accurately: I used to read it, when I was younger, but as I’ve grown my tastes have changed, and I dislike the pairing now, and prefer other pairings over it, such as Ronarry, Hinny, Ronmione, Ronvender, Runa… etc.Multishipping is a good thing. We likey multishipping.I’m… gonna sleep now.

There's no software engineer(ing) major at MIT ... just FYI.There is computer science (or "Computer Science major"), which is part of the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science department (EECS, Course VI). Computer Science majors are VI-3's (or 6-3's), and there is a EE&CS major (6-2's).There isn't really a "normal working day" or even a typical day as this depends per year and per class and the day of the week and your personality (night-owls preferred to work late at night, and some people weren't night owls). If you did 6.170 (Software Studio, also known as 6.S197), you'd spend a lot of time coding and debugging and more so over Spring Break. I think my roommate towards the end of my time at MIT was spending ... 20-30 hours a week on this one class and just over 30 hours during Spring break (on this one class), which I believe was on the low side.(A lot of courses at MIT have the appeal that "you can spend as much time on it as you really want to.")I did a lot of the sophomore and junior year course VI courses (these are common to 6-1 Electrical Engineering, 6-2 Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and 6-3 Computer Science) and there's a decent amount of lectures, a lot of lab work, and then a lot of homework. Homework could be lab write ups, reading, studying, problem sets, etc. For instance, the first two classes in Course VI (6.0001 and 6.0002) are rated as "2-3-1" which is read:2 hours per week of lectures/recitation3 hours of lab work1 hour of preparation work(Total = 6 units each)Many students who wanted to do Course VI probably started freshman year, but still, MIT structures its education such that students take around half their total units in their major (so you can assume about half their classes and homework would revolve around their Course VI classes). Most students might have started their engineering problem sets a couple of days or more before they are due, but a lot of people worked on the problem sets the night before the problem set was due. Although if students had multiple problem sets due on one particular day of the week, they would find ways to finish at least one of them ahead of time or mostly be done.Most Course VI classes weren't at 9am (for whatever reason), e.g.: Fall 2016-2017 Class ScheduleMy roommate wasn't a night owl so he'd definitely call it quits by between 12am-2am, and even then that was rare. He was usually up around 7:30-8 and would rather do work in the morning/afternoon/early evening (even to putz around and read his email before class).Just based on averages, you could assume, Monday through Friday, there is a bunch of class (most of these would be between 10-5), there would be some lab work (depends on the class and lab, some of them are open until some time in the evening). A lot (maybe even the vast majority?) of MIT students have extracurriculars -- these also help a student deal with stress or de-stress -- and a lot of extracurriculars are between 8am - midnight (other than hacking, Assassins' Guild, The Tech, etc.) My roommate also tried for 7-8 hours of sleep a night even if that meant he did less in terms of extracurriculars and socializing and exercise.Most students didn't work on Friday evenings. Saturday mornings tended to be a little slow as well.
