These are some things I learnt as my placement season was just 2 months back in December 2017 -No matter how knowledgeable you think you are, if there comes a choice between you and a person with same or slightly less knowledge but from a circuit branch, bye bye to you. You won't get that job.No matter how outstanding you think you are, if you haven't had any experience in the skill (technical) which company is looking for, you won't get selected.Good grades sometimes lead to bad outcomes because good grades signal the interviewer that you might leave the company and go for Masters or MBA. I faced this in my interview as well, so be prepared.The Training and Placement Cell is a very powerful authority in those 15 days of placement season. I won't write much, but just read it again, “most powerful”.Giving an interview is like a stand-up comedy act,‌ you wait till the first laugh and everything takes off from there. Similarly, when you get your first “good answer, let’s move on” response from the interviewer, all anxiety, stress, nervousness gets over. This is usually a good sign.The female inequality which prevailed in the world few decades back (and still some) is very bad for a male candidate sitting for placements because companies have hire more girls to improve their gender ratio. You have to live with this reality, period.If you don't believe in luck, I welcome you here to witness the placement season in an IIT, you'll start believing in it after that.If you have got a job, congratulations, you deserve it. If you haven't, this doesn't mean you don't. This means that you are not at par with the ones who got a job. Keep trying.The ones who are “stud” or “bhaukaal” (Banaras special word, same meaning as stud) don't even get a job sometimes. Again, luck plays an important role.The TPO doesn't owe you a job, they are just helping so that you can get a job. Nobody owes you anything, so don't cry for whatever has happened.As in 3 idiots, the interviewer says, “Job paane k liye log hmaari haan mai haan mila hi lete hai”, which is quite apt because people sometimes lie to get a job.The resume is very important part of your interview. Even if it seems that they don't read it for more than 30–40 seconds, they always give pretty good look at it. So, don't write false stuff, get a good template and keep it professional. Though my resume was very simple according to me, many students and all interviewers (whom I faced) were pretty praised about it. Please spend time on your resume, it will pay off.Thats all!Edit: Changing the last point a bit. I have been interviewed on a few occasions in regard to patients that had been in the news. I am a retired doctor. I was careful to stick to generalities. The patients were generally people who needed emergency retrieval for 1 reason or another. My impression was that the reporters had a template for “mercy dash”, “plucky victim doing well”, “tragedy strikes family”, “police make arrest”, etc.With the template appropriate to the situation, the story was already written with a few gaps here and there, that needed to be filled in by talking to me.I worked for a year in a small hospital north of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The hospital was on the coast. On a stormy day, a primary school age boy was brought by small boat from an offshore island to the hospital. I think from memory he had a nasty cut on his arm or leg from an accident with a sharp object. I cleaned the wound and sewed it up under local anesthetic. He went home with some minor analgesic medication.The media rang me, to inquire after the patient. I did not provide much information, and certainly not the patient’s name or address. Finally the reporter asked if he could use words like “mercy dash”, “emergency surgery” and so on! I said “yes”. The reporter seemed pleased and rang off. The next day the local newspaper put a small paragraph concerning the event on the second page. The item was factually correct and contained the relevant information. Somehow “mercy dash” and “emergency surgery” had crept across the page and snuggled in beside “plucky lad” and “family relieved”. Cub reporter strikes again!

The Secret Service washed the blood stains and cleaned the Presidential Limo outside of Parkland Hospital, instead of preserving it for a crime scene investigation. The car was later that day flown back to Washington DC.There the car was further cleaned with bullet fragments found.There was much discussion of a “clean bullet hole” through the windshield. One Secret Service witness stated that the hole went clear through, wide enough to push a pencil through. There was also mention of chrome damage around the upper side of the windshield, plus the fact that the rearview mirror had been twisted during the shooting.George Whitaker Sr., was a senior manager at the Ford Motor Company back in 1993, and gave an interview telling that upon reporting for work on the Monday after the JFK Assassination ,that he was to report to the glass lab immediately. The door to the lab was locked, which was very unusual, so Whitaker had to be let in by one of the two lab assistants.To Whitaker’s surprise, the windshield to the JFK assassination limo was in the lab, with instructions to use it as a template to build a new windshield. Whitaker examined the windshield carefully, and saw a clean hole in the lower left area. Upon studying the hole further, he could determine the glass had been penetrated by the outside inward. This was made evident by the glass chipping away on the inside, much like a small BB hole would blast away glass on the backside.His subordinates upon making a new windshield, shattered the JFK windshield, as had been orderedThe Presidential Limo was completely up dated, new engine installed for the extra weight because armor plating. Over an inch thick side windows that didn’t roll down, and a permanent top of the car.The original thought was to get a new limousine, till officials were told that it would take years. LBJ had to use FBI Director Hoover’s armored car in the interim. President Johnson wasn’t pleased with the thought of using his predecessor's assassination limo, and shocked that it came back to him with the same midnight blue color. “Paint it black,” LBJ demanded.The assassination limo continued into service with President Carter being the last to ride in it. It was retired out of service in 1978.Now it sits in the Henry Ford Museum. Why Ford? Because the US Government never owned the Limo, they just leased it.UP DATE The limo cost less than $8,000 new. It was extended a little more than 30 inches, the roof was raised to accommodate Top Hats, and rear seats could be raised ten inches for the President to be better seen. These were just a few of the modifications, including a “parade speed transmission.” This work was subbed out for $190,000. After the assassination, heavier armor, non roll down bullet proof side windows, et al, total improvements: nearly $500,000.
