They can pin-point a fairly small subset of statements that are contributing to a buggy program, small enough to make it easy for the programmer to notice the error quickly. Interactive editors may take this test-suite as an input from the beginning and generate these error localizations on the fly.Well if we are able to generate these localizations, why not try to repair them too! Trivial errors like off-by-ones, a less-than operator instead of less-than-or-equal-to can be pretty frustrating for the programmer to locate and fix. Interactive compilers and editors having this functionality should be a common feature in the coming decade.Auto-graders and feedback generationActually this idea has already been implemented and used in online courses for introductory programming. A professor can give out assignments to students and feed the correct solutions to the grader, along with test-suites. The auto-grader can then evaluate the student's submission relative to the correct submission, and suggest minimal changes to their program that they must make in order to pass the benchmarks. A good example is given in the publication titled "Automated Feedback Generation for Introductory Programming Assignments" by MIT and Microsoft Research -The above snippet is the correct version of a program to compute the derivative of a polynomial, whose coefficients are passed as an array. An incorrect student submission for the same problem along with suggestions generated by the tool -If you see closely, the length of deriv is off by one - the range function by itself excludes the second parameter from its output. Also i needs to go upto 1 only, not 0. Otherwise it will cause an index error. Hence the changes suggested are enough to make the program semantically equivalent to the correct version.Such a grader can provide an in-depth analysis to students, which would be pretty difficult to impart in an online course registered for by thousands of students.I believe this can be scaled to larger programs, wherein students and programmers both can teach themselves a new concept/algorithm. The training is even a part of his gag, in that it's a joke. No one would label that training, and it's nonsensical to say that it's hardcore training that would get him power. And toon force isn't a thing. No actual comic writer or manga writer mentions that. It's a fanmade term, and fans don't really decide whether someone has an actual power or not.
