If I might begin my answer with tongue planted firmly in cheek:Wait, what? Democrats have insisted for YEARS that ACA is actually a Republican plan, that it's based on ideas from the conservative Heritage Foundation! Now you're asking for yet another idea?!As you might imagine, I don't really believe that. But as long as Democrats keep arguing it, I'll keep rebutting it!Republicans have offered numerous plans, including Paul Ryan's famous "Path to Prosperity (The Path to Prosperity), the "Patients Choice Act" offered in 2009 prior to the Affordable Care Act's passage (Republicans Offer Health-Care Plan), Health Savings Accounts and other forms of consumer-directed health care, John McCain's 2008 campaign proposals (The McCain Health Care Plan: More Power to Families) and others. So the plans are out there.But if I might be a bit cynical: there's simply no political advantage for Republicans to going on the Sunday shows and taking the focus off of the Affordable Care Act by spending time talking about an alternative. There's ample precedent for that kind of decision, even if it strikes you as distasteful: Nancy Pelosi and Congressional Democrats, for instance, never developed an alternative to President Bush's 2005 Social Security proposal. Flat opposition was enough to galvanize the left. Republicans are making the same sorts of calculations now that Democrats did then, and that politicians of all stripes make every day.If politics was solely about developing the best ideas, we wouldn't have politicians. We'd elect think tank members, who'd quietly go about their business implementing the best policies we could imagine and thereby leading us into Utopia. But it's not that simple, because evaluating what ideas are the "best" is thoroughly subjective, and absolutely requires the people's buy-in. Rank-and-file Republicans have not bought into the idea of a more formal alternative to ACA yet, and elected Republicans reflect that attitude.

The truth tends to come out when there is a deployment, and we’d learn that the soldier’s mother is single and works full time—so there really was no care plan. Bottom line—if a soldier cannot put together a workable family care plan, he or she must be administratively discharged from the Army.

No doubt this question has struck a chord for Brits. I did laugh a bit reading the answers. However, there is a serious note to this.There is an organization that was formed in the 1940s with the help of the wife of the wartime president of The United States. That organization is called Freedom House. It provides a yearly report on the status of freedom in the world and lists the countries. It’s difficult to quantify freedom. Freedom in the World Countries Canada is fourth or fifth, The UK is about 27th place. The United States is 52nd place. 52nd!!!One element of freedom is mobility. One should be able to go wherever one wishes without hindrance. Makes sense. Not so in America. There’s a series of laws on taxes that in a nutshell forces you to fill a return to the IRS every year no matter where you are in the world and there’s a good chance you will pay taxes to Uncle Sam. There have been many Americans who had to renounce their citizenship and that is not cheap. Accidental Americans, such as the UK’s PM Johnson, found out too late that they owed back taxes and spent a fortune digging out and renouncing their citizenship. There’s only one other country somewhere in North Africa that does that. This restricts mobility. Brits don’t have this. I have to report and pay American taxes on my Canadian Pension Plan. To buy private insurance on your own is quite expensive. About 1k$ a month on average. For a family of four, 2–4kS per month on average. It comes as no surprise that if you have a job with a very attractive health care plan you would feel the disadvantage to look for work elsewhere if you hate your job. This restricts freedom of mobility.Another example. Here in Florida, you can buy a gun relatively easily, put it in your car’s glove compartment and not be required to register it with the police or have a licence. It is quite legal. There are a lot of guns on the streets both legal and illegal. The result of this is you will have a sense of insecurity for your safety and your family as you travel. No citizen of any country should feel threatened simply because they leave their house. Police in the US has been shooting deaf people for not following instructions. I agree it’s a provocative explanation.
