I was stationed in Korea at the time (1986 or 87) and was driving a deuce and a half back from the firing range along a curvy mountain road. We came upon an accident where a car had crashed into the end of a guardrail. We all got out to see what had happened and to see if we could offer any assistance. The driver of the car was dead, the steering wheel embedded in his chest. About that time one of the guys called over from the other front side of the car and said there was a woman there saying something in Korean. I went around the car and the lady was on the ground, saying something about a baby (I was just learning to speak Korean at the time). I held her and covered her with a jacket and told the guys to look for a baby. The guys fanned out looking but could not find anything. I had turned my flashlight on and as I swept it towards our truck, I saw what looked like a doll hanging from a pine tree just off the road. Closer inspection showed it was the baby she was asking about. I told her everyone was OK and we had the baby, keeping it warm in our truck. (How do you tell any body their husband and child are dead?)I later found out she had been holding the baby in her lap when her husband had hit the guardrail head on. Both she and the baby had gone through the windshield. To this day I still have nightmares about it.

I rolled my off road truck on a series of rocky steps on a trail called Moab Rim in Utah, about 1000 feet on a cliff above the Colorado river.
