The population has been instructed to rush to their assigned ark when they receive the signal.The Morgan Resort & Spa, actually a disguised ark. It will float away when the island is detonated beneath it.Hommage Hotel & Residences Baie Nettle. A 4 star luxury liner, that will set course to Aruba as soon as the water rises.Is it a coincidence that all these Hotels were built so close to the water? I think not.As soon as the Frenchies attack, they will have the surprise of their lives, and there will be nothing but sea where once was the Island.But why sacrifice the entire island you ask? I’ll start off with an injury, a bad one on the set affecting an iconic actress in her day. Remember the Wicked Witch of the West, played to scary perfection by Margaret Hamilton in The Wizard of Oz? Well, the green make-up she wore was highly flammable, but no one seemed concerned with this or maybe they didn’t know it, so in the scene in where the witch leaves Munchnkinland in a puff of fire and smoke, her trapdoor didn’t open quickly enough (for effect, they didn’t let it work) and she was burned.In 1938 they didn’t have CGI, so Margaret Hamilton had to endure the flame while she suffered third degree burns on her hand and second degree burns on her face! Margaret spent a few weeks at the hospital and at her home to recover. She didn’t sue, because she knew her career would be over, but she refused to do any scenes involving fire from that point forward.Her stunt double, Betty Danko, was burned while doing the Surrender Dorothy skywriting scene. Betty sat on a smoking pipe that looked like a witch’s broomstick, but the pipe exploded. Danko spent two weeks in the hospital, and her legs were permanently scarred. A new stunt double had to be hired to finish the scene.Tom Hanks was terribly sick while shooting the island scenes of Castaway. He cut his leg during filming, but told people not to worry about it. The cut seemed deep, but Hanks wanted to keep filming. No one thought about his leg after that, until he showed up one day with his leg almost twice the size it normally was. The on-site medics tried to tend to his leg, but they quickly realized Hanks was suffering from blood poisoning. Hanks was taken to the hospital immediately, and the staff said he was hours away from succumbing to his injury.Emma Watson was quite ill on the set of Noah. The director, Darren Aronofsky, was keen on only using evironmentally safe materials on set, which meant using a recyclable drinking bottle and not plastic. Plastic water bottles were not permitted, and one morning at her 5 a.m. call time after shooting long into the night, a tired and dehydrated Emma couldn’t find a bottle of water anywhere. She felt delirious and tired and drank the stagnant water in a mug.That mug had been on set with that water for three long months, and Emma became very sick, as in stomach problems from water poisoning. Watson desperately wanted to go back to her hotel, except Aronofsky told her to use her illness for her scene. She looked at everyone on set and asked, “Is he joking? He is joking, right?”, only no one said a word. Watson had to stay on set with her stomach issues, think running to the loo lots of times, and that was her fun day on set.One more. How a scene came to be so memorable due to an actor’s illness. Harrison Ford was filming Raiders of the Lost Ark and he was suffering from a terrible stomach bug. In the scene set for that day, Ford was to fight a man who wields a sword while he was to use his whip and win in a beautiful duel between the two men. Only Ford was so sick, he decided to pull out his gun (a prop) and shoot the bad man. It wasn’t in the script, but it made it into the movie. To this day it’s an unforgettable scene.Actors have sick days too, they just try to work through them.
