People (mostly Liberals) seem to have trouble with the wording of the 2nd Amendment. They think the wording is clumsy because it doesn't say what they want it to say. EVERY state has at least 1 Militia, Texas (where I live) has 3)"the right of the people to keep and bear arms" (this is a blanket statement that EVERY citizen, regardless of station, class, religion, ethnicity, state of residence, etc... has the right to keep and bear arms)"shall not be infringed" (an across the board prohibition against regulation, restriction or any other hindrance to the State's ability, right and responsibility to build and maintain a Militia and the Citizens right to bear arms.)If the initial element (a well regulated militia) were the totality of the point (as you assert, that the 'militia' constitutes a standing Army), then there would have been no need whatsoever, to later purposefully specify "the right of the people". I understand your desire to ignore this portion of the statement, but there is no other logical explanation why the framers intentionally included a reference to the people's right to keep and bear arms, if it only meant the military. I was surprised to find that it is, in fact, legal to ride a horse (or use horse-drawn modes of transportation) on any public road in California, provided thatyou obey all applicable traffic laws, signaling turns, yielding and stopping where appropriate (including traffic lights), etc.; andyou do not enter a highway or road with a minimum speed limit or typical rate of speed that you cannot safely maintain, such as most interstates or freeways.Even more surprising is California Vehicle Code Division 11, Chapter 3, Article 3, Section 21759:The driver of any vehicle approaching any horse drawn vehicle, any ridden animal, or any livestock shall exercise proper control of his vehicle and shall reduce speed or stop as may appear necessary or as may be signalled or otherwise requested by any person driving, riding or in charge of the animal or livestock in order to avoid frightening and to safeguard the animal or livestock and to insure the safety of any person driving or riding the animal or in charge of the livestock.Not only can you ride around Palo Alto on your horse, you can holler at the Teslas to slow down or stop lest they scare your steed, and they must comply! Seems worth it for that alone.
