PDF Editor FAQ

What is the #1 reason you are successful?

DETERMINATION(Everything I wrote in this answer is for no other reason than to share my personal experience.)Three months ago, I received an email from the University of Cambridge, informing me that I did not receive any scholarships and that I was required to provide a financial guarantee of £168,000 as otherwise my offer would be retracted. My head started spinning as I lost control of my entire body. I sat on the couch, putting my hands in my hair and not uttering a single word for an hour…I was shocked beyond measure. How was I going to provide a financial guarantee of £168,000? I stood up from the couch and went outside with my laptop. On the first hour of my walking, I emailed every single person who could possibly have ideas and advice. On my second hour, I sat in the Republic Square of Armenia, listening to motivational songs and accepting the terms of my new reality: either I lose or I keep fighting. The next several days, I was sad and felt helpless. It would not be a exaggeration to say that I did not smile for several days. But, still, I did everything necessary to apply to the two scholarships whose deadlines were on 31 May. I “caught” my teachers in school and asked them for the recommendations. I gave my essays the best shot and provided every single document I was asked for the application. In the beginning of June, I opened a crowdfunding campaign as well: my plan was to share it on Facebook in the Armenian community and in Quora. On the first week, I collected more than $6000. Eventually, the link of my crowdfunding was shared 8.5K times on Facebook. Around 100,000 people clicked on the link and read my story. 233 people donated and I am thankful to all who supported me.Quora, in contrast, was not working. Firstly, the crowdfunding link was blocked by Quora moderation. Even now, if I include the link here, my answer would be deleted automatically. But I knew: either I work with what I have or I lose.So I kept going. I decided to shoot a video for my crowdfunding campaign.(A shot from the video.)The uploaded video on Facebook gathered around 100,000 views. My crowdfunding became so popular in the Armenian community that people began to recognize me on the streets. Eventually, the crowdfunding gathered more than $10,000.Alas, it wasn’t enough. And as our old buddy used to say: you fight or you lose.During these three months, I was also approaching everyone and anyone who could support me. I approached a number of personal donors, billionaires and rich people. I also wrote several rich Quorans here as well. (Hello!)To one Armenian man, I made a personal plea in a conference: “I do not fund individuals” he said “but I am very happy that you got to Cambridge.”Good… I then found another contact with him: a friend of his called him on my behalf. Still, he said “I do not fund individuals.”Good…So I wrote his wife an e-mail. She told me to apply to a scholarship organized by her to which I was officially ineligible. “Just apply” she said.I did. And guess what? “We are sorry to inform you that you did not receive…”But, still… you fight or you lose.Another personal donor agreed to cover all shortfalls. I waited, I waited, I waited for the official confirmation on Thursday. One, two, three…Surprise, surprise. “We are sorry to inform you…”Another shock, another rise in my bodily temperature. Had to fight more.Well, long story short, I eventually managed to gather the funding (on this Friday) with the help of several individuals and scholarships. My place at Cambridge was officially confirmed yesterday (Tuesday). Filling out the financial statement on Monday, I smiled.I smiled because I knew that was the product of my ongoing fight and the support of the people who believed in me.There were days where I was so angry, mad, excited or simply stressed out that I could not sleep. I remember when the sun shone from the window while I still could not fall asleep. The number one reason I am successful (for my age) is not “talent”. It’s not intelligence. It’s not self-discipline.Yes, those things mattered. But the number one reason is determination. When everything turned bleak, I kept going. And everyone could do what I did. It didn’t require skills. It didn’t require knowledge.I simply did what was necessary to succeed in gathering the funding. I emailed people, I networked, I approached them, I met the minister. The question is: how many would give up?How many would say “meh, I just won’t go to Cambridge?”A lot of people. And the difference between success and mediocrity is that “meh”.NEVER GIVE UPDo the necessary ALWAYS. Give your 100%. If you failed, it’s good. At least you would know you tried. If you don’t fail and succeed, enjoy… smile. And continue fighting and working for the next step.

What is the major difference between PBG (performance bank guarantee) and FBG?

Performance bank guarantee secures the beneficiary about the applicant’s performance. In a case where the applicant does not perform as per the contract, the bank will be liable for the applicant and pay the amount mentioned in the guarantee document.Financial guarantee is when the bank assures the beneficiary about the applicant’s intent of paying money. If the applicant is unable to pay as per the contract, the bank will pay on behalf of the applicant. The difference will be clear with an example. If A is taking services from B, and B is not sure whether A will provide the services, then A will provide a performance bank guarantee. Now, if A is not sure whether B will pay for the services, then B will have provide a financial guarantee.
