PDF Editor FAQ

What are the best tuition-free Arts Management masters degrees in Germany offered in English?

There are none. The closest might be European Master in Project Management (EuroMPM) • University of Applied Sciences and Arts Dortmund • Dortmund

How good is the European Master in Project Management (EuroMPM) programme?

I would be cautious of any masters in project management program anywhere for two primary reasons:Actual, hands-on project management experience and practical, real-world training is more important than any academic degree in project management. Project management is something that is best learned through “The School of Hard Knocks”.The world of project management is changing rapidly at this moment as a result of the influence of Agile and many universities have not adjusted their curriculum to reflect that.

Is the standard of living better in Germany or France?

I can only speak of my experience:3 years living as a foreigner in Strasbourg (France) and so far 6 months living in Nürnberg (Germany). (Before I lived 25 years in Mexico City, where I was born and 7 years in Barcelona)I'm a surgeon by training, in France I was doing further formation on innovation and medical device development, that's a big part why in France my salary was half of what is in Germany. But my project manager in France was earning just as much as I did there, and he (PhD in particle physics + master degree in project management, and a brilliant guy) would be earning surely more than that in Germany, so it’s my impression that highly qualified jobs are better paid in Germany (if I would be currently doing clinical work as a surgeon, then in France I would be earning even more than I'm earning now). But let's go then to the experience of being a foreigner in both countries:In France, my job was in English and I wasn't required to speak French at all at the moment of hiring, I was indeed given French lessons paid by the institute, but before learning a survival French, anything that had to do with the administration was a nightmare. Nobody speaks English, or if they do they surely hide it, nobody makes an effort to help you in that sense and dealing with the administration is it generally long waits and more often than not nobody knows the exact process to get. A particular thing done when is not the standard. And being a non European living with a scientific visa makes everything non-standard.In Nürnberg:Most of the information from the administration is accesible in English, so far it was exceptional that the person didn't know a good English (even though, when asked if they speak English, Germans will always say: a little bit, just to then have a better English than you). Administrative processes are super well defined, everything was easy. And being a foreigner living with an EU family visa makes everything non standard (yep, my wife and I got married when we moved to France). So, administrative paperwork and language accessibility: kudos for Germany. My landlord in Strasbourg was a really nice guy and never had any kind of problem with him, when the dishwasher broke he replaced it immediately. My landlord in Germany is also very nice, and so far we have had no problem (due to better family income we do have a nicer flat in here).People:My friends in France are super nice people, and I did find a lot of exceptionally kind people who was always nice to me. But in general I have the feeling that French are the most chauvinistic people I ever met, and that if you're a foreigner you're always seen with deep suspicion that you surely aren't t as good as their national product. In Germany I feel like that where was I born is a non issue, they're after what I know and if anything, being Mexican adds to the curiosity from my colleagues. In a nutshell. The quality of life in both places is very high. Healthcare access is excelent, education is very good and security is very high.I enjoyed living in Strasbourg a lot (and is still one of my favorite weekend destinations). I’m also enjoying a lot living in Nürnberg. If you gave me the option, all things being equal, I would decant for Germany because of the little things of the day to day life, very importantly people openness.
