PDF Editor FAQ

How do I make my own military time conversion chart?

"Military" time is 24 hour time (i.e. the day starts at 0000 and ends at 2400). Civilian time breaks the day into two 12 hour halves AM and PM. Normally to prevent confusion if something happens at midnight, we'll say it happens at 0001.So 12:00AM-12:59 = 0000-0059, otherwise AM hours are the same in both systems.Numbering continues with 1:00PM=1300. So from 1300 on, subtract 1200 for the civilian PM hour.In pseudocode, if x is the civilian time, and am is true for AM hours, thenif am and x >= 1200 then x = x - 1200if not am and x < 1200 then x = x + 1200The 24 hour clock really is far more logical :)

How do you convert standard time to military time?

Easiest way is just to think of a 24-hour day as a single number. The day starts at 0000 (12:00AM). Past mid-day the numbers keep going, so after 1259 (12:59PM) it's 1300, then an hour later 1400 etc. So 1PM - 12AM = 1300-2400. Since midnight is 2400 day1 = 0000 day2 normally if something happens at midnight we'll say it happens 0001 hours.I prefer thinking it this way because the general rule (if it's 13 or over subtract 12), because that doesn't cover 12:00AM-12:59AM (0000-0059) and it confuses the fact that military time is based on a whole day instead of a half day.
