Truancy.Our school almost completely ignores massive attendance problems. Reason? We get paid on a per-pupil basis. Kids who never show up still result in us getting extra money from the state. But if we crack down on truants, what we often find is that they don’t live in the district. If we find that out, we have to report it to the state, and the state docks our income accordingly.So students miss 50, 60, 70 days a semester…and we do nothing.

…I have around 30 truancies and 45 tardies …For many colleges, a Mandatory letter of recommendation is written by your Guidance Counselor as a cover letter for your official transcript.What do you think your guidance counselor will write, with all of those truancies and tardies????Have a very long, polite and professional discussion with your guidance counselor.
