The Central Bureau Of Investigation (CBI), the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and now the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) are all investigating her. At a time like this, India Today's Rajdeep Sardesai in a mega exclusive, spoke to Rhea Chakraborty on all the allegations levelled against her. Rhea categorically denied all charges, including the drug conspiracy and the siphoning off of Rs 15 crore, and more.Here is the full interview:Why are you speaking up today?Sushant ne mujhe bola. Woh mere sapne mein aaya aur bola ki apna sach bolo.How did your relationship start?Hum kaafi saalon se dost hain. We met at the YRF [Yash Raj Films] gym around 2013. The way he saw me, I became a better person in my own eyes.What happened on June 8?June 2-3 he started asking me to leave. I was also unwell, I was getting anxiety attacks. June 8, I had a therapy session, and I didn't want to do it at my parents' place because I didn't want them to see me like this. Sushant told me to leave before the therapy, I asked him to let me go after the session, but he insisted. His sister was coming over, he insisted that I leave before she arrives. I said I will leave only when his sister Meetu, who lives in Goregaon, arrives. But he kept pushing me to leave before she arrived. His family and I do not share a good bond, but I understand what a family bond is like, and I wanted her to come so he would be in good hands.But your chats with Mahesh Bhatt sort of revealed something else.Kya main kisise salha bhi nahi le sakti? Main toot chuki thi. I was obviously upset that Sushant didn't stop me from leaving, he didn't call me back, that he was almost pushing me out. I wondered if he wanted me to go because I was ill. I thought is it all over for him? So yes I was upset, I reached out to Bhatt saab but that's only because I felt broken. He told me to think of my father, and listened to what I had to say.Bhatt saab calls me child, messages mein bhi hai. His daughter is my age. That pure relationship has been misconstrued into something like this.You and Sushant were in this relationship and went to Europe together. Aapko unke depression ka kab pata chala?Ji, Europe ke trip jaane wale din Sushant ne mujhe bola, ki usse flight mein baithne se claustrophobic lagta hai. Iske liye woh ek dawai leta hai. Modafinil. I said we should check out. But woh nahi maane. Uske baad se unki haalaat aur thodi thodi, he did not want to get out of the room throughout the trip.SUSHANT SINGH RAJPUT DEATH CASE: ALL YOU NEED TO KNOWPhir maine unke saath baat ki and he said that 2013 mein unke saath ek depressive episode hua tha. He met a psychiatrist, jinka naam shayad Haresh Shetty tha. He said unhone yeh dawai unko prescribe ki thi. I started suspecting ki kya huwa. Are you unwell? That’s when he confessed to me that he met the psychiatrist in 2013 . He was okay after that. At times, he had anxiety attacks. But now he was feeling more anxious and depressed. So, we had to cut short the trip. If your partner was not feeling comfortable, what is the best thing to do? Bring him back.Why was Showik with you during the trip?Yes. Showik and Sushant ke beech mein kaafi prem tha. In fact, kabhi kabhi we joked ki Showik hi mera sautan hai. Just before the trip, humari saath mein Sushant, Showik aur meri ek company form hui thi jiska naam tha Rhealityx. Isse quite obvious hai ki Sushant probably liked me, ki usne apne dream project, artificial intelligence ki company ko, mere naam ke saath joda hoga. Mera bhai aur main usme baraabar ke partners the. Uss fashion show mein mujhe Paris bulaaya jaa raha thaa. The company booked my business class tickets and stay. But Sushant thought it was a good idea to make a Europe trip out of this. Sushant cancelled those tickets and booked first class tickets. Rest of the trip, he paid for the hotels. He wanted to and I didn’t have a problem with that. Ultimately, he lived king size. I had a problem with the amount he was spending.Mujhse pehle bhi, ek do saal pehle, woh 6 ladko ke saath Thailand gaya thaa. He spent around 70 lakh on that trip. He took a private jet also. It was his lifestyle choice. Aap kaun hote hain yeh bataane waale ki woh kya karega? Uski marzi. He lived like a star. Like a king. He loved it. Did the boys also force him in that trip, then? Aur ji nahi, I was not living off Sushant Singh Rajput’s money. We were living like a couple.Did he buy a flat for you in Panvel?No.Have there been any transactions between the three companies? Was any money transferred from his account to your or your family members' accounts?No. The only transaction was where I sent Rs 35,000 to him, that is because he had once paid for my hair and make-up, and I felt, no, I will return the money to him. As far as the flat in Khar is concerned, it's a small flat, and I am still paying the EMIs for it. These are all baseless allegations. Even where the companies are concerned, I paid Rs 66,000 for Showik and me, that is it.Aapke aur Sushant ke ek dusre ki family ke saath relations kaise the?My relations with his family weren't good. I had an incident with his sister Priyanka. In a drunk state, she tried to touch me inappropriately, I told Sushant. Uske baad se relations achhe nahi rahe.Why did you not try to fix things if you loved him so much? Were you trying to isolate him from his family?I did. I met Meetuji in Waterstones, and that's when I realised that he had a sister in Mumbai too. I had no idea before that. She left him there, despite knowing he wasn't well. When Rani came to Mumbai, they met at a cafe, but things were not well between him and his family. I wanted him to get back together with his family, but every time they came together, they would separate again.If the family thought I was isolating him, why did they let him come back to me from Chandigarh? Meetu and I were on a 6-day retreat, why would she go with me, if she hated me so much?What about his father?Sushant wasn't close to his father. His father left his mother at a young age, and as a kid that affected him. Before I met him, Sushant hadn't spoken to his father for 5 years. His relations with his father were always strained.Was he really depressed or were you forcing him into this?He was depressed. He was seeking treatment too. He told me he had met a psychiatrist in 2013. He had been admitted to Hinduja hospital for treatment too at one point, he was under Dr Kersi Chavda. Sushant ke depression ka ek bada reason hai ki he wasn't able to live without his mother. She also struggled with mental illness. But I did not give him any drug. Doctors gave a prescription, based on which we got the medicines. Everyone knows you cannot buy these without a valid prescription.When someone shares your fears with you, your relationship becomes real. There's no facade left. We worked at it together. In December 2019, he was getting better under Dr Chavda's treatment. I have all the messages, ED and Mumbai Police have records of my phone, and I will cooperate with CBI too, obviously. But people outside are speculating. So much so, that my mother is on the verge of getting admitted to a hospital.Did you involve his family in his illness?Yes. I was very happy when he was leaving with them for Chandigarh. His sister told me that she knew how to handle things because their mother also suffered from something similar, and I was happy that he was in good hands. I gave her the prescription and the medicines, and hoped that things would get better.The allegation is that you insisted that you be cast in his films. That this wasn't love but a business transaction.You can check with Rumi Jaffery, he will tell you how this film happened. We were supposed to do a play, but since Sushant was a star, a play was difficult for him. One day we were sitting at Waterstones and watching Govinda's Hero No 1, and he said he wanted to do a film like this. He got in touch with Rumi and said he wanted to be the hero and I would be opposite him, that's how things worked out.Is this the film because of which he had Rs 17 crore in his account?You are the first person to understand this. Vashu Bhagnani paid, I think, something around Rs 15 crore, and yes, that is why he had that money. Sushant was very happy when he got the signing amount. And I was also happy because it meant that he was getting better and signing new films.Now coming to the drug allegations. Did you speak to Gaurav Arya about drugs? What about Jaya Saha and the messages with Samuel Miranda?No. Yahi baki tha, mujhpe drugs ke allegations bhi daal do. I deny the contents of the conversation with Gaurav, I knew Gaurav, but this conversation didn't happen, and I would like to reserve the rest for the investigation.As far as Jaya is concerned, I didn't add anything to Sushant's coffee, maybe he himself added it.It is unfortunate that we have to speak about someone's vices when they are no more. Yes, he smoked marijuana. He used to do it since before he met me. Even during the time of Kedarnath, he used to smoke. But he is that kind of a man. I tried to stop him. But he would do what he liked. If he wanted to take medicines, he would, if he wanted to smoke, he would.What about the hard drives that were destroyed?This is a baseless allegation, there was no hard drive that I know of, no one came while I was there. Perhaps, after I left, his sister had called someone, but I am not aware of it.I would confront Siddharth [Pithani] but I don't even think he made a statement or something like that, I believe this is a concocted story, much like several others doing the rounds.The belief is that you controlled his life, that is why you changed his staff...I did not do anything to gain control of his life. He knew Siddharth since before he knew me. Samuel Miranda was hired by Priyanka [Sushant's sister]. Keshav, Neeraj and Dipesh were with him since before me. In fact, he introduced me to them.What about Sandip Ssingh? Did you know him?I don't know Sandip, he has never come home, he never called. If he is such a good friend, where was he in the last one-and-a-half years?You left on June 8, he died on June 14, what do you think happened in the meantime? Did he speak to you? Do you suspect a foul play?Yes, he messaged me on June 9, asking, "How are you my bebu?" I was hurt because I thought he didn't want me in his life, even though he knew I was unwell, he didn't reach out on the 8th. I blocked him on the 9th. My parents did not know about it, but he was in touch with my brother. He is still on my family group. I would have gone back to him if he had reached out or if I knew this was to happen.But I have no idea what happened. I want to know what happened. His sister was with him between June 8 and June 13, why won't she come forward and say what exactly happened?Did he talk to you about taking his life?No, but he did speak about the existential crisis of life. But I am still unable to understand what happened in those few days.You left on June 8, Disha Salian died on June 9. Did you know her?I met her once when she came to Sushant's Carter Road home. I met her for like 10 minutes, I never spoke to her after, I don't have her number, I don't know how much she interacted with him either. I think she became his manager in March 2020, after that the lockdown happened, and Shruti Modi, who was his earlier manager, fractured her leg, which is when Disha was assigned by Cornerstone talent agency.Did her death impact him?Unfortunately, I wasn't there, so I don't know how it impacted him. But I can tell you, when your name is attached to someone, and things like 'suicide' are used in the headline, it affects you. Today, I can tell you how much it affects you.Aapko Sushant ke death ki jaankaari kaise mili?June 14 ko main dopahar kareeb 2 baje apne ghar mein bhai ke saath apne kamre mein thi. Meri ek friend hai, unka mujhe phone aaya tha. She said aise rumours hai ki aisa aisa hua hai. She told me to stop the rumours. Unko pata nahi tha ki main apne ghar par hoon. She told me to tell Sushant to issue a statement. Tabhi mujhe laga ki aise rumours kaise ho sakte hai. Within 10-15 minutes, clarification aa chuki thi.You broke down? Kya aap unke ghar gayi thi?Ji nahi, main unke ghar nahi gayi thi. I broke down. I was completely shocked. Mujhe samajh nahi aa raha tha ki aisa kaise ho sakta hai. Mujhe bataya gaya ki unke funeral ke list mein mera naam nahi hai. Industry ke kuch logon ka naam tha. Industry ke logon se pata chala ki mera naam nahi hai. Main bulkul nahi jaa sakti. Woh log mujhe nahi chahte wahan. Unki family nahi chahti mujhe.Aapne unki family se baat ki?Main unki funeral mein jaane ke liye taiyyar thi, but industry ke kuch logon ne mujhe mere ghar aake samjhaya ki tum wahan nahi ja sakti. Woh log tumhe nahi chahte. Tum zaleel hogi. Tumhara mental state as it is theek nahi hai. Mujhe din mein pata chal gaya tha.Meri do doston ne mujhse kaha ki bahut zaroori hai ki aap unki body ko ekbar dekhein. Nahi toh aap accept nahi kar payengi ki aisa hua. Nahi toh aap nahi maan payengi, aur iss baat ko closure nahi milega.You said, ‘I am sorry, Babu’?Yes, what else is someone supposed to say to someone who has lost his life? I am sorry you have lost your life. I am sorry that your death has been made a joke. I am sorry that everyone has made a joke of your death. I am sorry that your last memory is not of your intelligence or your charity. That is also misconstrued. Aur kya bolein?How long did you spend in the mortuary?For probably 3-4 seconds. I was told to wait outside. My friends requested somebody ki yeh ekbar body dekhna chahti hai. Unhone bola ek baar post-mortem khatam ho jayega, body jab van ki taraf jayegi funeral ke liye, uss samay aap dekh sakte hain. Toh jab wahan se body nikli, when it was on the way to the van, I got to see the body for three seconds. I said I am sorry because I am that he has lost his life. And I touched his feet as a mark of respect, which I think any Indian would understand.At that moment, did you regret why did you leave on June 8?Yes, but what happened happened, I cannot change it. I regret that we lost him, the most beautiful boy ever. And most of all, I regret that his death has been turned into a joke.There's a theory that there's a Bollywood gang and Rhea is part of it.First, decide if I am a struggling actress or a star. How can I be part of a big Bollywood gang if I am a struggling actress? Nahi main kisi bhi gang ka hissa nahi hoon.Was he a victim of nepotism...I will tell you something. Sanjana Sanghi had alleged that Sushant Singh Rajput harassed her, and those #MeToo allegations haunted him. Sanjana hadn't given any clarification, she finally came out 1.5 months later, but that destroyed Sushant's mental sanity. Till then, Sushant had to come out and reveal their chats himself.Did those #MeToo allegations affect his career? Could this have been the reason behind his depression?Kedarnath to Sonchiriya to Chhichhore, his films were very good, but he wasn't given his due. He wasn't nominated for awards either. It was because of the fake allegations. He also felt that even if he did another hit film, it wouldn't matter, he won't get his due because this wouldn't leave him.Was he targetted?Absolutely. He would often say he will leave everything. These fake articles, the fake #MeToo allegation, all worked systematically to ruin his career. Like what is happening to me, like how I am being targetted. I understand what he was going through better today.Was he a womaniser?No, he was the best human being ever.Coming to the Mumbai Police's investigation. Did you think they were going in the wrong direction?I thought they were doing a good job. It has been said that they were very friendly to me, no they weren't. I had a hard time too, but they were doing a thorough job.Why were you speaking to the Bandra DCP?Firstly, I wasn't the accused at the time. And more importantly, I spoke to him regarding the rape and death threats I was getting at the time.Is Mumbai Police under pressure?I have no answers to that. My friend is named Anaya Udhas, and her name is saved as AU on my phone, that has been misconstrued as Aaditya Uddhav [Thackeray]. She has issued a clarification also, but no one believes us.So who is AU? Is it not Aaditya Thackeray?No, it is not. It is Anaya Udhas. I have never met Aaditya Thackeray.What about the speculation that Disha and Sushant's death are linked?The CBI will find everything.Did he have any enemies?Sanjana Sanghi and Rohini Iyer ne unhe bada sataya hai. Rohini ne humein milaya tha, but later she stopped talking to us. Sanjana and Rohini, Sushant thought were part of a nexus. It was odd that it took Sanjana 1.5 months to issue a clarification. If I am doing a film, a big film, why would you take so much time to clarify the #MeToo allegations against your own co-actor? Wherever you are, you have Google, you know what is being written about you, especially if it is something so serious.Ankita [Lokhande] said Sushant changed after he met you...When was the last time she spoke to him? Not in the last 4 years at least. Then she says he spoke to her during Manikarnika shoot. She stays in his flat, and claims it's her flat.When was the last time you spoke to Siddharth Pathani? Does he also suspect foul play?I think I spoke to Siddharth when he called to say he was being pressured by Sushant's family to say that Rhea siphoned off money from Sushant's bank accounts. I was consciously not speaking to anyone from the house because the case was sub-judice. But I told him, he should bring it to Mumbai Police's notice, and he did.Were you and Siddharth administering drugs to him?Absolutely not. I would say Babu dawai le lo, but that's about it. Sid is a simple boy, we called him Buddha. And today he is being tagged as a criminal mastermind.Have you thought of committing suicide in the last few weeks?Yes, I have. Or someone should just line up my family and shoot all of us. We are middle-class people, respect is everything for us, and we have nothing left now. Today I am a drug dealer, tomorrow I am something else. Everyone is after us.Do you trust the CBI?I have absolute faith in CBI and the government. The truth will remain the same and it will prevail. The truth will be the revelation that everyone is seeking. I am sure Sushant will get justice. Main pehle bhi lad rahi thi, I asked for a CBI inquiry into the case when I wrote to Amit Shahji. And I will keep fighting, not just for him, but for myself too.What would he have thought about all this?He would have hated it. Fake news sticks. #MeToo ke time bhi woahi hua tha.What would you say to the people who have turned you into a villain?I would like to say look within, look into your family and try to think of someone who has lost anyone dear to them in their life. We want to know the truth, but till then, don't speculate about me.Why do you think it is happening?It is a witch hunt. Koi mujhe vishkanya kehta hai, kisine kaha main black magic karti hoon. Kyu? Just because I had a partner who suffered from mental illness and took him to the doctor and got professional help?Now, is it just justice for Sushant or for Rhea as well?It is justice for both of us. People think my family and I are criminals. The one who is no more, isn't getting due respect. But you are also killing the people who are still alive.You are tagged as controlling, gold digger, vishkanya, and what not. So tell me who is the real Rhea?I am sitting here in front of you. I am just a girl who loved a boy. That is the honest truth. I am broken but I will fight on. Despite all this, I cannot ever regret loving him. I know he is here, he is watching over.
