Interesting you should ask this as we just have dealt with this problem. We had a storage unit & let a family member keep some items in it. Both had a key. The family member went to the unit, changed the lock & refused to give us a key. The unit was in our name. We went to the unit, cut the lock, removed our items, (the lease was up in a week).We called the family member, told him we had cut the lock, removed our items & if he wanted his items, he should be there within the half hour with a new lock as we were leaving soon. He was also told the rental on the locker was done at the end of the week & he would need to pay. Ok so this is the fastest I had seen someone. It was in our first week or so of boot-camp and we got a screwup. The guy had been ASMO'd (ASsigned MOvement) back a few times for disciplinary reasons and was given a final fresh start. A whole new “Hard Card"… aka starting fresh with a new record like day 1. He showed up on a Sunday to our group which was basically a lazy half day of shining boots trying to sleep with your eyes open, and writing letters home. Anyways he bragged about how long he'd already been in boot camp like it was something to be proud about.Then this guy decided to brag about his piercings. And he had one of these.And to show it off grabbed his locker lock and slid it through and locked it.And I don't even remember the other recruits name. But another guy in our division came running by, yanked the key out of his lock and ran into the head and flushed it down the toilet. A few minutes later our RDC (Drill Instructor) came back by and the one with the lock still in his nose had to explain why he had his nose locked. And he went to ship 5 (separations) to get his lock removed and that was the end of him.
