I generally take Ola or Uber to commute to my office and it would mostly be a share or pool ride. I work during my commute and hence i wouldn’t mind for a longer commute. Shared rides are pocket-friendly and eco-friendly. You also get to meet different people.One fine day my toddler daughter did not allow me to go to office. She wanted me to be with her all day. I was trying to distract her and sneak outside the door to go to office. I booked an ola cab, i was about to go out of my home. She hugged me and told me to be with her. I couldnt say no. i cancelled the cab and stayed back.It was already 11 o clock, i had asked for half a day off, there were some important commitments because of which i had to go to office that day. My daughter was watching some rhymes and there were people around her and she was totally distracted. i booked a cab and sneaked out.There were two old women already in the cab, i boarded as a third person. I was sitting in the front seat. As soon as i boarded the cab, i opened my laptop and got engrossed in my work.Few kilometers later, “Thud”, before i realize, the cab met with an accident. The old lady in the back seat had a hearing aid plugged. It fell down. Everyone was nervous including the driver. The car had hit an auto. The auto driver got his legs got hurt. Thank God, it was not a serious injury.The traffic police got hold of the Cab driver. All of us got down the cab. One of the old lady was not even able to walk. There was some good amount of luggage carried by both the old ladies. One of the ladies took all the luggage out, while i hand hold the other old lady.I called up Ola support and reported the incident. They were asking me so many questions, where did this happen, whose mistake it was and they did not show any interest to make alternate arrangement. I was very annoyed, shouted at the customer support and banged the phone.The old lady reminded me that we had come by Uber and not Ola. That was my most embarrassing absent minded behavior. By the way Uber, does not have a customer support to call. I made arrangements for both the ladies to travel to their destination. I made my own arrangement and then apologized Ola when i got the call back from them.It appeared that the old ladies were on their way to the old age home after having a minor surgery performed from a hospital. One of the old lady was assisting the other. It felt good when the old lady held my hand to board the cab. No wonder they say old age is second child hood.

My current project, Cold Trail, book four of seven in the young Yamabuki series, largely takes place in the capital and Genji, a novel written over a 1000(!) years ago by a high court lady reminds me of the small details of life in the Japanese when women had a high station in society. It reads so very well. Very engaging. And it’s a long book!

R+L=J’s evidence has been laid out dozens of times already, but:Ned is extremely cagey about Jon’s origins, including to his own wife.Ned thinks of having made a promise to his dead sister that just happens to have been made at around the time of Jon’s birth.The context of the promise is in defending/sparing the life of an innocent, based on Sansa pleading for Lady reminding Ned of Lyanna’s plea.Ned’s sister’s death is described using a euphemism that elsewhere in the story is used exclusively to refer to childbirth.We know Rhaegar and Lyanna disappeared together, consensually or not, and there’s a known sexual element to it, again, consensually or not.The Kingsguard are still at the Tower of Joy when Ned arrives despite knowing that Aerys, Aegon and Rhaegar are dead and that Viserys is on Dragonstone. It would take more at this point than just Lyanna to keep all of them there.There are a ton of ironies and wordplay jokes where Jon is concerned that only really make sense if he’s actually royalty, e.g. Joffrey and Jon can’t play-fight because bastards can’t hit princes. Joffrey is the bastard and Jon is the prince, but the joke needs Jon’s half of it to work.Ned at one point makes a mental list of his children, and Jon isn’t on it.Dany has a vision of a blue rose growing out of the Wall, where Jon is, and we know that Rhaegar gifted Lyanna with the winner’s laurel — blue roses — at the Harrenhal tourney.The Knight of the Laughing Tree story functions as the origin point of Rhaegar and Lyanna’s relationship and hints at it being consensual.No one other than Robert who was alive during the Rebellion thinks of Rhaegar as actually kidnapping Lyanna against her will; it seems most people do think of it as being consensual. This speaks to the likelihood of Jon’s legitimacy and not just his parentage.We know Rhaegar thought he needed a third child and that Elia Martell likely couldn’t have any other children after Aegon, i.e. we’re essentially told that part of Rhaegar’s mission was making Baby No. 3.Likewise, something about this prophecy involves “the song of ice and fire,” meaning it makes sense for Rhaegar to try having this other baby with Lyanna Stark specifically.That isn’t even all of it, but there’s no need to be exhaustive to get the point across. It’s pretty much a bright-line solution, without GRRM ever coming right out and saying so.As for Ned and Ashara, the big thing in its favor is the idea that they had an affair at one time, but it’s not clear if they ever did have an affair (or at least, had an affair that would align with Jon’s conception), or if the whole thing is a cover story meant to hide the truth.We know that at least some people in the Dayne family have the silvery/pale-blond hair that the Targaryens have, in addition to purple eyes (and it looks like Ashara got the eyes but not the hair). That would make Ashara a plausible candidate for being Jon’s mother if he showed any Valyrian physical features. So the root of what makes people think N+A=J is possible might not even be true and would have been used only to keep the secret of R+L=J.
