To make it worse, some places pulled a Texas style republican dodge and closed all polling centers but one to serve everyone (over one million in a Texas county) in just a few hours!Nevada isn't the Midwest but they have an updated system in an attempt to be modernized before another pandemic can strangle an election and this was the first year using it. Florida had the same exact issue with punch card templates on a “butterfly ballot” that when lined up in the dispenser made it almost impossible to read how the vote punch out matched the candidate back in 2000 and obviously learned a lot and fixed the problem. Nevada and the Midwest will do the same. For now, as frustrating as red states can be, understand that they are doing remarkably well for handling an election during a pandemic, higher voter registration, outdated equipment and ballots, and being in a state that has authoritarian Republican tyrants who kept voters away from the polls for more than half a century. I think a huge shoutout should go to every single state still working hard to build trust in our elections. Even trump supporters are sounding the alarm on Trump's election fraud and attacks!I live in Colorado and by the time I volunteered (early October) we already had all the volunteers we needed for processing and counting. So I contacted party representatives and worked on call lists, postcards, and emails with dates for the last day to register to receive a ballot in the mail etc. Red states don't have the luxury of “too many volunteers, find something else to do.” Blue states do. We should all be supportive because a recount is coming for many states already struggling and Georgia is going to be turned into a Republican hissyfit so they can try to keep things too busy to focus on the run-off election so they can push their Republicans to the Senate. Trump is going to make this as awful as he can and these states need patience and time. Let's show them that we believe in their right to vote far more than their awful and tyrannical McConnell and Trump tyrants do and that we can offer encouragement and patience. Let a trump supporting poll worker or ballot counter see that the person making his or her life difficult is trump and not Biden. Besides, they need to see a second time that Biden won and seeing it with their own eyes is a great way to show them reality.Be patient and let's give the red states a break everyone. Every trump supporter, no matter how loud, that supports elections is one more crack in the Republican party foundation. Republicans only want conservatives to vote because they have to gain power in this system. If they had their way, no one would ever vote again, not even their followers. It's a good thing to have people who believe in the integrity of the vote even on the other side of the aisle. Ignore the trump supporters threatening war and saying “stop the steal.” Those are the ones getting airtime. Go for a walk in your neighborhood and see how many trump flags came down. Those are the ones who believe in the validity and integrity of the American system even if they're mad about the outcome. Those are people who can keep the American experiment running!
