I graduated from Arizona State University in 2014 with a B.S in Civil Engineering in from the Ira A Fulton Schools of Engineering . I am originally from Long Beach, California and was unable to get into any of the top tier engineering schools in the state (UCLA, Cal Poly San Louis Obispo, etc.) so ASU was my next option, especially after I found out that Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering was actually well respected in the professional engineering field.During my time at ASU, it is safe to say that I "indulged" in the stereotypical partying that gives ASU its reputation (which is very well deserved in my opinion, I had a freaking blast during my 4 years there). This is a double edged sword however, as about 90% of my closest peers in the program either changed majors from engineering to business, accounting, etc. or just dropped out of ASU all together due to their excessive partying. I'm not saying I'm special by any means, I was just able to find more of a balance between the fun party lifestyle that ASU has to offer and keeping up with my studies to eventually graduate on-time in 4 years.I would say my GPA was by no means stellar, however, it still was sufficient enough to land 2 internships and an eventual high-paying job offer with a top tier engineering/construction firm at graduation. I credit this 100% to attending the engineering career fairs religiously year in and year out. I was not part of any clubs in college nor did I have an impressive GPA as I mentioned before. Attending the career fairs and directly networking with professionals in the industry is what allowed me to attain the job I have now, which I absolutely love.Like several other people in this post have eluded to, ASU is what you make of it. Dependent on which major you choose, your options post-graduation may vary greatly. I can really only speak to the engineering program but after working in the professional engineering/construction world for a couple years and picking some of those in upper managements' brains, ASU's Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering is well respected in the industry.
