GT MotorsportsAn FSAE team of Gujarat Technology University. This is by far the best student club/organization/team of GTU. Now you may ask, what does the team do?They(students) build this:It’s an open wheel racing car made by Bachelors and Masters students of the university. Students design, manufacture, test and assemble every single part of the car according to the rule book provided by FSAE committee.With the car they participate in two different cars in a year. So basically students have approximately 8–10 months to build all the parts from design to assembly and testing, that too with managing their academia.The team builds car at LD college of Engineering, Ahmadabad. Every year two times, the team recruits new members, as every year some members retire as they graduate.The team work as if it’s company designing a race car. It has different departments like Design, Production, Procurement, Electronics, Marketing, Assembly etc. There are two events in a competition, i.e. Statics and Dynamics. Some members prepare for the static events like Design, Cost and Business presentation, and some(drivers) prepare for dynamic events like Skid-pad, Autocross, Acceleration and Endurance. However, to compete in dynamic events, they must clear four tests: Tech. Inspection, Noise, Tilt and Brake. The point distribution:Gray are static and Red are dynamic events.Based on the score they get in these different events, the winner is decided.Formula students is the greatest platform among all engineering students all over the world. It’s the toughest engineering competition. Every year around 15 different Formula students competition take place in different part of the world. There are two different competitions currently being held in India, Formula Bharat and SUPRA SAEINDIA.GT Motorsports participate in the both of these events every year. Since past three years the team has got some good success.The most recent success is of the team is to win the SAE SUPRA overall.The team completed the most toughest event(Endurance) at the top and ranked 1st overall among the other 111 team participated.I would recommend all the engineering students of GTU to be a part of the team and contribute.
