When should I do the medical exam for my Canadian visa - before or after the approval?

Two ways you can have your medical exam:-Wait for instructions from the visa office after you have submitted your applicationIn this case, you must go for the medical exam within 30 days of receiving the medical instructions from the visa office. Your application may be refused if you do not.2. Undergo your medical exam before you submit your applicationThis is called an up front medical exam. You can contact a panel physician directly to get your medical exam if you apply under one of the following categories:WorkersStudentsVisitors (including Parent and Grandparent Super Visa)Once your medical exam has been completed, the doctor will give you a document confirming that you underwent a medical exam. You must include a copy of that document with your application. If the doctor works with the eMedical electronic system: they will give you the information sheet printout. If the doctor works with a paper system: they will give you a copy of the IMM 1017B Upfront Medical Report form. You must attach that form to your application before you submit it the visa office. If you apply online, you must upload that form before you can submit your application.I hope it cleared your doubt. If you have any doubt, comment below. All the best for Visa.

What are the chances of my student permit application for Canada getting rejected, since I'm diagnosed with Lymph Node TB (a non-communicable form of TB, my chest x-ray and blood test are normal). I have to join the University in September 2018.

Thanks for this A2A.Hope you are receiving DOTS treatment for your extra-pulmonary TB, all other treatments are inferior. DOTS is a 6-month course. Would you be finishing your treatment by September?I would like to know the site of the lymph glands that have been affected…those in the neck are commonly involved. Are the glands closed or are they draining pus?If your course requires that you have to stay in Canada for more than 6 months, and I trust it is so, you have to undergo a medical exam.If you have already applied for a student permit, I trust you already have, you will receive medical instructions from the visa office to get a medical exam done from a panel of physicians whom they have approved. The visa office will also send you a Medical Report form (IMM 1017E). Within 30 days of receiving instructions from the visa office, you will have to meet a approved panel physician for getting a medical exam. Here is the link to the list of panel physicians and you can visit one who is closest to your residence: Panel Physicians. Once an appointment with the doctor is made, take with you your proper identification [passport, driver’s license], spectacles/contact lenses if you use them, all previous and existing medical reports, and the Medical Report form (IMM 1017E) that has been sent to you. I anticipate that the physician will direct you to a designated centre for microscopic examination of your sputum and also an X-ray of your chest. When you report to the doctor with your reports, he will send your medical exam report to the immigration office. Your test reports will not be returned. Based upon the doctor’s report, the immigration office makes the final decision to accept or reject your application. In case they find a problem with your medical exam, the visa office will communicate the same to you in writing. You will also have to pay the fees towards the medical exam and all the tests that are called for. In case your application is rejected, this fees will not be refunded. If you have not yet applied for a permit, you can get an upfront medical exam done in order to save up on time. After receiving the copy of the IMM 1017B Upfront Medical Report form, you have to attach it to your application form before submitting it at the visa office. In case you are applying online, you have to upload this medical report before you submit your application. It is my personal opinion that your application will be accepted. It is also my personal opinion that too much of stress involved with your studies has reduced your immunity levels and resulted in this development of TB lymphadenitis.FYI, any student from India, even though s/he has no TB disease, intending to study in Canada for any course longer than 6 months HAS TO UNDERGO A MEDICAL EXAM specifically to rule out TB disease. It is a sad state of affairs that more than 20% of TB cases in the world are in India. TB is a communicable disease that is both preventable and curable…but…India is sleeping over it. TB was the leading cause of death in Canada in 1867. A survey of Canadian school children in 1921 revealed that half of them were infected with TB. And now, about 1600 new cases are reported every year [about 4 cases every day], and about 80% of these TB cases are among immigrants. Because of these statistics, fearing that TB will once again become the chief rattler of death, Canada is placing special focus upon all visitors to its country.Dear Abhishek Kumar, I request you to regard the TB disease in your glands as not your problem, but, India’s problem. In case you are unable to go to Canada because your TB treatment has not been completed, please realise that 1000 Indians are unable to live in India every day on account of TB that is killing them.My request to everyone reading this answer is this: ‘Stop being at ease in fighting this disease!’Regards and take care. Wishing you all the very best for a very successful life.Dr. Somanna
