PDF Editor FAQ

How tough is the level of questions asked in maths of SSC CGL Tier 2?

I take it that you are talking about CGL tier 2 2017. And it appears that you have started to prepare for cgl 2018.If you search it on Quora about level of exam, you will get two types of answers. First category belongs to those answers which were answered before answer key release and other one of those who answered it after the answer key release. Difference will be evident in those answers so I will share my experience rather than yes/no answer.I will tell you my experience of CGL tier 2 2017 maths. This was my first attempt and I had seen reviews on 17th Feb so was a bit tensed but maths was always my strength so I tried to be relaxed (read lazy when I say relaxed)… I attempted 76 but in answer key it shows only 75 attempts out of which 74 are correct. I wish to get 2–4 marks more but for now let's say only 74 are correct, ignoring one more question that I did but ssc keys are not showing that)So here's my take, exam wasn't tough but it was really better than previous years. It was a good attempt by SSC by increasing the level and trying to test our maths, well look at job profiles, it deserves to have some higher level.Main reasons that we found it hard was, we were used to of getting 190+ in previous years papers and mocks. But we didn't realise that at such level (national level exam) scoring 70℅ should be considered good. And exactly the same happened… Those who had 170+ in mind, without much preparation, ended up on 130 so they think it was tough. Some even claim it was like CAT. It wasn't . It was exactly like how a national level exam for MEA,CSS,ITI,EXAMINER etc posts should be like. Though I had not worked hard except last 2_3 weeks but I am okay with 150 marks as I think 160+ would have been like 185 of last year's.To conclude, don't underestimate SSC now. With increasing competition they have to raise their standards. But don't overestimate it either. It's nothing like CAT exam at all. Not at all. In a paper of 100 questions, one must set 30 difficult question else what's the point of testing a candidate's maths abilities. So if you are new, don't worry, it's not that tough, but at the same time don't look back at past and think 170- is a mediocre total, the range of mediocrity has changed this year.(Another reason was that students were not prepared for it. I admit those who used series like ssctube, olive , kd etc didn't find it hard but those like me who used some simple test series found it better than previous years and I was happy to see good level questions when I came out of exam hall but then English spoiled the mood as it was really easy)So it wasn't difficult, but it was different than previous years. From now on, it will be an exam worth the hype and repo it has created in previous years.“Don't overestimate SSC but don't take it lightly either"(PS: I am not promoting any series here, thats why I didn't tell which series I used because I know they too were unaware of the level ssc adopted. I think 20+ marks dip in maths and 10+ marks increase in English will not be surprising thing this year)All the best!…

Which is the best way to prepare for SSC CGL maths? I could only score 80 marks in Tier 2 2017.

I think I can help you with thisCgl 2017 is my second attempt as I got out in the merit list of Cgl 2016 and for this credit is taken by maths only as I could score only 133.5 in mains. Throughout school time I was average in maths, and during 12th it went below average. I could manage only 57 in 12th boards. So maths was never my cup of tea.Cgl 2017 mainsI cleared pre with a decent score and I didn't want maths to let me down this time. As I was aware of quant mains exam I started giving mocks from the starting because I was not the new one. I think the one who has cleared pre must be above average if not very good in maths. Concept clearity is very important. For the new comers for mains first practice Rakesh Yadav 7300 or Kiran just to get aware of the questions asked. So mocks play a vital role in maths because speed develops during the course of giving mocks. I usually gave Ssctube, kdcampus, Paramount mocks, 3 on 3 days of the week. Post mock analysis is must just to let you know where you are lagging. Score might vary in all three but don't worry about it. I purchased Rakesh Yadav 7300 because it was the trend of ssc to repeat the questions with same concept. I solved it two times. Rakesh Yadav advance book also has good questions. For advance you can go for it also. It has concepts explained in detail, so it would be helpful for you. . This was the time when Abhinay sir was in business and was providing solutions with good concepts. I watched all his videos at that time and trust me they were very much helpful. And it was December and my score was still hovering in 140s and 160s. I didn't lose hope and worked on a new strategy as the exam got delayed again , I started preparing notes , you can call them the questions which repeatedly gave me problem during the mocks and they were so many in numbers that I had to prepare two thin registers. I practiced them on Friday before giving the mocks and it worked. Scored jumped 170+ , and once I was able to score 195. It looked like I was preparing well. Feb 21 was my exam and I didn't want to let it go, I could manage only 73 but was happy for a decent attempt. As the pattern was changed and some new questions were put up by ssc it satisfied me with my attempts. And then came the cancellation notice , I was shattered because somehow I managed to escape from it and I have encounter it again. So, during this time I practiced only the leaked screenshot questions and there is a YouTube channel Study with you, during exam time its name was study with udit, provided with helpful solutions. Finally it was 9th March, all set to give my all and I attempted 78 this time. I was happy that I attempted 5 more from the previous one.April 13, came the answer keys, pretty much nervous to open, Maths it was bang on 75 correct, 3 wrong of which 1 is wrong from ssc side, English I attempted 190 , and scored a decent 165. I was happiest at that time.My total score is 473 till now. I just want to say that for ssc you have to stick to practicing the questions as many times as you can, never get frustrated as ssc tests your patience , I am very restless one, and most importantly believe in yourself. Hope I might end up with a job this time. All the best for cgl 2018!Updated score 485.5Tier1-159.5, maths + English = 159+167=326

How much estimated normalization marks did you get in the SSC CGL 19 tier 2 and mention your shift too?

Hi All,First of All Congratulations to all the candidates of 15th and 16th CGL-19 Mains shifts For getting their due normalized marks. And most importantly sympathy to all the candidates of 18th shift for not getting selected in the list which you might have deserved because of this inexplicable and utterly agonising situation. It was clear from the start from the level of the 18th shift that injustice will be delivered to the candidates either to 18th or to 15/16th candidates or it could have been some where in between but was not sure that there could be this much disparity and discrimination.Normalization is a Prasad of SSC.. jitna mile lelo utna hi kam hai …now between 50–67 marks normalization for the 16th shift, and 60–75 marks normalization for the 15th shift candidates because of the easy shift of 18 and this is the reason for the high cut-off setting another record this year (quite understood). Now for the 18th candidates it appears that those who have scored below 190 in maths didn’t get their names in list-3.Examplestotal 528 SC Category maths marks 186.5 approx did get in list-3 yet having cut-off only around 434 marks not qualified.2. total 474 SC category not qualified.3. total 558 UR category maths 185 Not Qualified.4. total 533 maths 192 category UR/OBC not clear but qualifiedSo worries are over for most of the 15/16th candidates who were in agony over the easy shift, and the uncertainties start for the candidates who have scored even for the candidates who scored 200 in mains and 580+ in total because now we don’t know how much marks are deducted from quant marks.one thing is more apparent that 18th candidates will not have their desired post or any good post because topper from 15 and 16th shift will have 260+ marks in Maths alone.fAnyways SSC should have revealed the marks of the candidates for their sole satisfaction that with how much margin I lost or stand a chance.2. if SSC has to check only one third of the copies and this sort of result has to come then they should have conducted the exam only for 45k Students in Feb to save resource and time, but I hope that’s okay, what is not is the delay “the test of patience”.Still I Hope high for all the candidates and yet there are high chances for more development and possibilities of revised result.I say with heavy heart but with optimism “Everything happens for a reason and never lose hope and fight till your last breath, Stay Happy and stay strong this is god damn life where ups and downs are inevitable. But I would personally thank SSC otherwise I would have been dabbling between UPSC and SSC, Now they just woke up the beast :p,Now I am sure I won’t get my desired post in CGL-19, So I will take CGL-20 seriously now and diverted my focus 50% focus to SSC now and took the SSCTUBE’s live test too. Please do comment your marks and shift if that brings some more light to this time of darkness for 18th candidates.Parveen Rohilla's answer to What is your feeling after the SSC CGL 2019 Tier 2 cutoff?Best of luck for future endeavours.Thank you.
