Weirdest was a motor pedestrian. Guy got hit by a car and just got up and started walking in circles with his head bobbing. Then during the medical evaluation he refuses to be in the ambulance but the police had detained him under suspicion of drug use. He then spit blood on our medic and was charged with assault. It was just weird seeing him walking around bobbing his head like that, and when he stood still it just kept bobbing like he was listening to reggae music or something. It was just all in all a weird one.Another time we responded to a motor vehicle accident and a bus full of Special Olympians were on their way to the Special Olympics and got rolled over by a driver that wasn't paying attention.And last was not when I was a firefighter, I was in the Navy driving from California to Virginia and my sister was on the wheel while I slept at this moment. I wake up to the car screeching to a halt and I wake up immediately and see a fully loaded semi truck smash into another fully loaded semi truck that was on the side of the road. When I walked up to assist the driver I was sure I was about to find a mangled body but the driver just had a bruise on his head and the other driver that got hit was a little bruised as well but they were both completely functional after that. I still have no idea how but I'm pretty thankful for that.These pictures can give you a little idea, yet again I was not a firefighter at this time and was not working a scene, just stopped and helped as a first responder and eye witness.

WTF? You were speeding. The cop was doing his job. If you take that personally you need evaluate your sense of importance.

Thus you have been speaking with a number of drivers over a number of years and you have seen how the industry generally works and you know what appeals to drivers and what does not.Two: you will be driving the truck part time. I would expect you would initially be riding with a prospective driver for a while, to evaluate their competency and how they go about the tasks associated with the job.Three: you’ll want to keep your truck busy seven days a week, thus you’ll eventually drive on the contracted driver’s day off, or you’ll eventually hire two drivers.Four: you bought the truck knowing there is abundant work for the truck, perhaps you have contracted work for the next year or two.In the absence of having a list of known responsible and reliable drivers, you will need to post ads and get ready to perform detailed interviews and driving evaluations. You might opt to go with one very trusted experienced driver performing the evaluations on your behalf.If I were you, I would be spending an extended time in the right seat with a prospective driver and determining what they want from the work and discover what will create a desire to apply more than a minimum effort.Example, are you paying hourly or by the mile? In both cases, adding a bonus for certain levels of performance would likely be a good idea. Perhaps the starting pay is on a scale which keeps rising incrementally over time. In addition, the driver routinely submitting the documentation you require in a manner which is timely, easy to read and complete might contribute to an additional quarterly bonus, along with a safety bonus for no incidents or accidents. There are plenty of ways to create performance incentives. Many companies don’t do this. I’m of the opinion assuming all drivers are equal, thus all receive the same pay, is not an appropriate approach.In the end, it depends upon what you expect from your driver(s) and what you are willing to do to attract and keep a driver who meets your expectations and your needs.
