Steele himself estimated that it was probably 80% correct.When the document was given to the FBI, they took it seriously because a) Steele was known to them as a reliable source and b) parts of it verified things they already knew. They have not indicated which parts.The claims in the dossier have been public for over a year now and none have been demonstrated to be incorrect. Corroboration for several has appeared, but most of the claims remain unverified, at least as far as the public knows.

Where I went to college in Chicago, most people had never been through a hurricane, so it was an interesting thing for them.I suppose the opposite would be true too. If someone were raised in Chicago and moved to North Carolina for college, they could wow people with the number of blizzards they’d lived through.

Jobs that used to be done by junior officers—lieutenants and captains—are now done by field-grade officers—majors, lieutenant colonels and colonels. And general officers have proliferated beyond belief in non-combat-leadership administrative roles.Each general officer has a personal staff, mostly senior officers. Each has a Headquarters, an elegant office, a staff car and driver, and senior generals have their own airplanes. They do an elegant dance of staff meetings wherein they brief each other and senior Administration Staff on stuff, drink coffee and pontificate upon the state of the world.They generate an endless stream of memos to each other, all of which have to be acted upon and answered, which creates a huge military bureaucracy.I know whereof I speak as, for a time, early in my career, coming off of my platoon command, I was a junior aide to a 3-star general.
