Where do you get information about rail-coach auction in India?

A Railway Coach will not be auctioned directly. Upon decommissioning a railway coach, it will be dismantled and then auctioned at the Indian Railway scrap yards. The whole process will be taken care of by the Mechanical and Stores departments of the Indian Railways.According to Indian Railway Coach manual, the average life-span of a coach is 25–30 years depending on the type of coach. During its lifetime, a coach undergoes many maintenance activities at various locations.Daily Inspection: All the railway coaches are subjected to inspection, even if there are on run or at rest. Only the basic tests will be done on daily basis.Trip Inspection: Before starting its trip, each and every coach of the rake/formation/train will be carefully examined by the Mechanical Supervisor(Engineer) at the Railway yard, attached to its originating station. WIthout the approval of the Engineer, the train cannot start its run.Monthly Inspection: The Monthly Inspection checklist will be taken care of.Quarterly Inspection: The Quarterly Inspection checklist will be taken care of.Half-yearly Inspection: The Quarterly Inspection checklist will be taken care of.Intermediate Overhaul(IOH): For every 9 months, a coach has to undergo the Intermediate Overhaul at the Railway yard, attached to the major Railway stations. During IOH, the coach body will be lifted from the bogies and then the wheels are turned, axles are services and the whole bogies are taken care of. Other minor work s will also be done so that the coach will be good for at least a year.Periodic Overhaul(POH): The POH will be done for every 18 months. The coach will be detached from the Railway divisions and will be sent to a Railway Workshop at the Zonal level. At the Workshop, the whole body of the coach will be attended and all the major repairs will be done. Lastly, the coach will be fully painted. The coach comes out of the workshop as a new coach.Mid Life Rehabilitation (MLR): After completing half of its life-span, the coach undergoes end-end modifications, called Mid Life Rehabilitation (MLR), and are carried out only at the Indian Railways Coach Rehabilitation Workshop in Bhopal. During MLR, the whole outer furnishing of the coach will be stripped off and will be replaced. The shell of the coach will be attended with the corrosive repair works. MLR is the major work done on any coach during its lifetime. After a coach is certified unfit for running by the Mechanical department, after serving its lifespan, the coach will be taken to the Railway Workshop at the Zonal level. Each coach will be assigned to a Workshop throughout its lifespan and all the works will be done in the same workshop. So the dismantling work will also be done at the same workshop. After dismantling the coach, the parts will be sent to the Scrap Yard, which is attached to the workshop, under the Stores Department of the Indian Railways. At the scrapyard, the parts of the coach will be put up for auction, along with the other scrap. A newspaper advertisement will be set up by the Stores department to discard the scrap. Any individual/organization can participate in the auction.Footnotes:http://www.indianrailways.gov.in/railwayboard/uploads/codesmanual/ACTraction-III/AcTractionIIICh4_data.htmCoach Rehabilitation Workshop - BhopalMinistry of Railways (Railway Board)
