If that sequence of events ever occurred Parliament would have to clarify the position in light of social ‘norms’ at the time as the current Succession to the Crown Act 2013 makes no mention of gender determined marriage, sexuality, ethnicity or ‘legitimacy’ (nor should it imho). Same-sex marriage is no different under UK law to differing-sex marriage. Parental gender & sexuality is irrelevant. As no mention is made of those matters in the Act they could not be used to disqualify anyone from the succession. (Being Catholic is still a no-no although marrying one is now ok)Non-commercial surrogacy in the UK is legal and a child produced by surrogacy is in every sense the legal offspring of its legal parents not necessarily of the ova & sperm donors or the womb owner. An adopted child also stands in the same position. There is no legal discrimination against them in terms of succession to the crown. They simply aren’t mentioned and standard UK law would apply.The Church of England MAY hold a different view but it too was consulted and approved the 2013 Act.The Parliaments of the other 15 Commonwealth Realms all passed Acts pursuant to the Perth Agreement 2011 which essentially keeps succession to their respective Crowns in line with the UK succession, but a surrogate produced heir may cause issues for some of the more conservative nations. It would certainly keep the world’s trashy gossip magazines going for years. :)

When you've got a Girish Karnad or Paul Krugman spinning up articles for a newspaper, you can't help but take a look at them. Not to forget the awesome science and technology section they have, that is just coolness at its best.At last, the news in The Hindu is presented in a way so as to give the reader a thorough understanding of the subject and then letting him/her decide between the right and the wrong.This shows that The Hindu respects the reader's intellect while others try to lead the reader on.Thanks Nikhil Deshmukh for pointing this out, The Hindu is one of those few rare newspapers which corrects past mistakes, both factual and typos.People have been complaining that Hindu is a severe critic of the government but my view is that most of the times its criticism is quite healthy and should be taken with a positive spirit. Media is the fourth pillar for the functioning of the democracy and according to me The Hindu has been playing its part quite honestly by engaging in constructive criticism.
