It was all part of the plan.The lab is located outside Albuquerque, New Mexico.It is the largest pulse-powered device in the world. This is what the outside of the machine looks like, and it is where the electricity sprang from. It is designed to test materials under the most extreme conditions imaginable.It mimics the power of an extremely small, super-powered, hydrogen bomb internally. Notably, it has successfully achieved the highest temperatures ever recorded on earth, at 3.6 billion degrees Fahrenheit.It does this by releasing tens of millions of amps of electricity into tiny wires within its apparatus, which exist inside of a vacuum.The lab actually achieved the new record by accident, after swapping in new wires with new compositions within the machine.Let me give you some idea how powerful it is. In several seconds, this machine uses more power than the rest of the United States uses in the same period of time. While testing, the aim is to do one “shot” a day. Sure, we have carlsbad, and Gila cliff dwellings, and Acoma sky city and lots of other rather static attractions. Carlsbad is growing again, since they fixed the parking lot to permit water through. The fastest growing formation, the soda straw grows at 1.5 inches a year. I know, hold back your excitement. The slowest of the new formations is about 1/2 inch in 20 years, I wouldn’t hold your breath for that one.If you mean breaking bad? My chemistry teacher wasn’t that exciting, though almost. A lady accidentally spilled a mixture in class on her when we were experimenting with sulfuric acid. he threw his lab coat around her and pushed her in the chem shower. As the shower washed her dissolved clothing to the floor. That’s the extent of excitement in chemistry, and that rarely happens.If you mean the endless slew of Westerns, many of which were actually filmed in California or Arizona and only a few filmed here. The old west is long gone. Even then it wasn’t quite as exciting as they said. Billy the Kid was an egotistical bastard, but it’s most likely that at least half of his kills actually came from others in the Regulators and it was just more exciting to give the kills to Billy and Billy didn’t mind the fame.Nope we’re pretty boring out here. From one of many stories of martial artists who died defending themselves:“A horrible scene has emerged from Brazil after a professional Brazilian Jiu-jitsu black belt man was killed following a road rage incident in São Domingos do Maranhão.The footage of the incident has been released online and has raised many questions in the BJJ community about the appropriate use of the martial art in situations like this, which can result in death.29-year-old Guma Epfane Vasconcelos was shot in the head twice after an altercation with an unidentified man who was driving a motorbike. Although the beginning of the incident was not caught on camera, the end did.Vasconcelos parked his white sedan car and approached the man on the bike, clearly both parties were angry about something. Although the video has no recorded audio, it was clear that both men were aggressive towards each other. Vasconcelos, a black belt BJJ practitioner, can be clearly seen using his stances and stepping-in techniques to threaten the bike driver who then revealed he had a handgun.Unafraid, Vasconcelos continued stepping into the gunman, despite his efforts to push Vasconcelos away. Sadly, the altercation ended after the gunman opened fire on Vasconcelos, who fell backwards onto the ground. While he was laying on the ground, the gunman shot two rounds into his head, got back on his motorbike and drove away.The video has sparked a large amount of debate online and in the BJJ community, with many asking whether Vasconcelos’ ego got the better of him, and being a black belt in BJJ gave him the courage to continue the attack. He caught up to the Jeep when it stopped at a traffic light; the driver then shot him in the chest and sped away. He spent a brief time at an orphanage in India, then was reunited with his mother and transplanted to California. Police said that one of the attackers was killed and another was hospitalized.One of the thugs threatened 27-year-old Joseph Torrez in a phone call before showing up with his cronies at Torrez’s home on New Years Day in Las Cruces. The home invasion was allegedly part of an ongoing feud, according to the Las Cruces Sun-News.“I’ll kill you and your family ... I’ll go to your house,” suspect Leonard Calvillo reportedly said.The alleged assailants — Sal Garces, 25, his brother Raymond, 19, Nathan Avalos, 20 and Calvillo, 22 — forced their way into the mobile home at about 2 a.m. Torrez’s fiancee, son and another woman were also inside at the time.The older Garces was stabbed to death in the ensuing melee, and Avalos sustained “severe” facial injuries, according to the New York Daily News. He was taken by ambulance to an area hospital.Torrez reportedly scared the other two men into fleeing, but they were arrested a short time later on conspiracy and property damage charges.
