Recently, one of my friends went to watch a movie with her family. Though the movie was hit, it was a flop show for her because she went to a A- certified movie and she was not aware of that and regretted her decision for the next 3 hours. The next day, we made fun of it, cracked jokes and explained what an A- certified movie is.The above picture is a Film certificate.We are aware of U, U/A, A but most of us exactly don't know what a film certificate contains and how important it is to a film.This film certification is compulsory to release a movie. Since film assures a high degree of attention and retention as compared to the printed words, film censorship is necessary. This judgment was taken on by the Supreme court in 1989.We know some details of the certificate i.e. U, U/A, A. Beyond those we have a lot in a film certificate.1. U - Everyone can watch the film UNRESTRICTED.2. U/A - UNRESTRICTED WITH CAUTION (under parental guidance for children below 12 years).3. A - ADULTS ONLY4. S - restricted to SPECIALIZED AUDIENCES like scientists and doctors.5. Information regarding the name of the film, color of the print, language and type are present here.6. Duration of the film in minutes and seconds.7. Sometimes duration is replaced with the length of the reel.8. The validity of the certificate.9. Information regarding certification, the location of censor board office and certificate number.10. The list of people who examined the film before certification.11. Name of the applicant and the Producer.12. Indicates the part of the film certificate. Second part available only for movies recommended for cuts.13. Triangle represents that cuts recommended for the film by CBFC have been removed and then granted the certificate.14. Information regarding the film gauge i.e. 70MM or 35MMWider gauges project a sharper image, while smaller gauges tend to be grainier. A number of experimental widths have been used in filmmaking throughout the history of cinema, but the most common gauges still in use today are 35 mm, 16 mm, 8 mm, Super 8 mm and 70mm. Now-a-days 35MM and 70MM are used across the world.A film certificate appears on screen for 10 seconds before the movie.I hope this is informative and never watch a movie with the family without prior knowledge of what kind of movie you are going to watch. Otherwise, you will have to sit and stare at the walls for some scenes. You will have to control your laughter for adult comedy. Having obtained several certificates on coursera and using those in cv and job interviews,I can answer this question.In Present scenario, securing a decent job is a difficult task and you always have more seekers than jobs present and you have to be best for the job when you are applying. You need to have an edge over others to qualify the cut- throat competition.It depends on the field you are working in.. Doing a course on coursera will boost your knowledge and this surely will help.If you add your certificates from world's famous universities in your CV , it will add a color to your cv and increase your confidence , however having a course on coursera is not a guarantee that you will secure the job. Remember when you apply for a job interview , there are many candidates, and for getting selected , you have to stand out. Even for getting shortlisted for interview you need your CV to be different and outstanding. Having a certificate from coursera may help you in making your cv look better than others.When the recruiter sees a coursera certificate they certainly see your additional interest and motivation in the field. This is handy.Knowledge is power.
