According to different source of information, the status of Bangladesh as a developing country is neither good, nor bad.Goldman Sachs investment bank and economist Jim O'Neill in a research paper mentioned 11 countries have a high potential of becoming among the world's largest economies in the 21st century.[1] There countries are known as Next Eleven — Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea, Turkey, and Vietnam. They believe that these countries are enjoying an increasing role in the world economy and on political platforms.Besides, BBVA Research created as a watch-list of emerging countries (Nest), where expected incremental GDP in the next decade of Bangladesh, along with other 19 countries, to be lower than the average of the G7 countries (excluding the US) but higher than Italy.Though Bangladesh is not included in every list of various sources list countries as "emerging economies". Among nine group of analysts Bangladesh appeared only on six lists, these are IMF, BRICS and N-11, FTSE, MSCI, S&P, and EM bond index. Dow Jones[2], Russell, and Colombia University EMGP included Bangladesh in their list.However, Bangladesh is a member of D-8 (developing eight countries), BIMSTEC, and SAARC. Recently, World Bank labelled it as a lower-middle-income economy and listed under the developing countries.
