Five shows in, these are my takeaways thus far:His impressions are incredible.He brings a level of detachment to his interviews that allows him to make certain comments that Stewart couldn't. Though JS would occasionally go into "take-down mode", he was generally a very relational guy that worked with his guests. Noah seems willing to make observations at any cost.He's very self-aware of the criticisms about him, and it genuinely seems like he's too optimistic and self-assured to care about them. He doesn't seem to have a chip on his shoulder. He just does him.Some of his jokes are still a little "sophomoric". This builds on the preceding point. I'm sure his producers talked to him after the whole Twitter incident that went down when he was first announced as host. This doesn't seem to have deterred Noah from defining his own boundaries for what is and isn't funny. (That said, it's important to remember that JS wasn't exactly a paragon of seriousness or maturity in the jokes department.)He's still understandably nervous, which affects his cadence during certain bits. This is keeping some of the jokes from hitting home as much as they should, but I'd expect this is a growing pain that will soon be solved. (His prodigious charm helps offset a lot of the downsides already.)His top moments thus far (in no particular order):The incredibly funny "Trump as an African President" sketch. This was a vintage Daily Show setup, but with a more globalized context. Noah's delivery was perfect. It was a home run for any doubters after three relatively spotty shows.Opening his first monologue by promising "to continue the war on bullshit".Comparing Kim Jong Un to King Joffrey.Referring to Pope Francis as "a young Bernie Sanders".Calling out Chris Christie for being part of the "government" that he was criticizing.Deciding not to follow JS's example of doing an "emotional hot take" in response to the shooting in Oregon. He recognized that this wouldn't be authentic for him, which he articulated well. He instead did a masterful bit with Jessica Williams the following Monday, which made his stance known in a much more poetic and age-suitable way.Pointing out the essential hypocrisy in people who are pro-life as it concerns abortion but (relatively) anti-life when it comes to gun violence. He compared them to comic book collectors: "They only see value in something until it comes out of the package." That was a brave joke delivered with the perfect mix of sincere indignation and intellectual conviction.I was a huge JS fan. Like many of my generation, I really saw him as a quasi mentor -- a "Jewish yoda" (Noah's description) that could guide me through the fog of the crazy adult world. He was the sole media figure that helped me feel like I wasn't crazy when the world didn't make any sense. He offered reassurance, catharsis, and hope.I think Noah has some growing to do (which should be expected of any new host, especially one so relatively young). But I also connect with Noah. Beyond a few risque jokes, he has a very keen mind that allows him to see the same things that JS did, but with a more youthful and energetic view on how to use his position to combat them.I'll never not miss JS, but I'm fully on the Noah wagon. This guy is going places, and I want to go with him.

If you had to force me to choose, I would say conservative, but that’s not the entire story.I’m a contrarian by nature. I always argue the opposite point in person in casual conversation because its fun and it keeps others in check with their opinions. And since Quora tends to have more liberals and progressives, I like arguing the “conservative” side because my contrarianism kicks in. That was after I decided to make hyperbolic and rage-induced answers, but I think I’ve gotten better.Whenever I take a political compass test, I’m always within range of the (0,0) coordinate, which actually surprised me when I first took it. I have to actually force myself to choose more conservative or liberal/progressive options to actually have that on my compass test. Even then I’m within the “moderate” square whenever I do so.It makes sense when I think about it. My contrarian nature actually helps me understand other points because in order to argue on behalf of the other side, you actually need to understand the other side first. I catch myself sometimes arguing for a side I don’t actually believe in, like say “free market healthcare” and it introduces this weird doublethink in my head that’s hard to shake sometimes.Getting to actual policy positions, I actually like the idea of socialized healthcare, I am in favor of environmentalist policies and the development of renewable sources of energy, progressive tax brackets, avenues of amnesty and residency for illegal immigrants, a fairly powerful central authority, well-funded primary and secondary education systems, and equal rights and opportunities for all of any background or group. That being said, the latter group is more “I can’t force everyone into the moral code I have so adopt a live and let live policy” but that’s more than I can say for some conservatives or progressives.But I also believe in gun ownership, that climate change is an overblown danger, an expansive free speech policy, a powerful military, a no tolerance border security policy, pro-life, mostly laissez-faire capitalism, traditional concepts of family and gender roles, promotion of Judeo-Christian values, Republicanism (the governmental system) over more direct forms of democracy, opposition to the Intersectional Diversity movement (SJW’s and the like), promotion of American industry, and a government with clearly defined limits and powers. I’m probably missing a few things and I wanted to mirror the above “That being said,” but it’s actually harder for me to recall conservative points as of now, given that classical liberals seem to be split between both parties.Though it seems that no one really likes when I gush over the endless possibilities of nuclear energy and I readily support expansion of it, as well as vaccines and GMO’s, but those tend to be hated by fringe elements. I hate extremists, so it doesn’t surprise me.If anything Quora has chipped away at my misconceptions and allowed me to realize who I truly am: A Catholic Christian!The political side of Quora only has themselves to blame because politics is somehow now more divisive and hate-ridden than religion! When I prefer sitting in the pews of a Mass in which language I barely understand for hours, proceeding to do that another three times throughout the day, than spend 20 minutes reading through political answers on Quora, that is an achievement.But seriously though, my opinions have become more measured in the sense that I am willing to give up some ground on my own moral inclinations in order to create a society where the vast majority of people can live peacefully and with the opportunity to have a good, not necessarily successful, life.Quora has actually made me more religious. I guess you could say that it makes me more conservative, and I guess it does if I’m a Catholic, but there is an insane amount of misinformation about theists and especially Christians on this site. By forcing me to actually go and look up this information on my own faith to ensure that I have actual facts, you’ve done the exact opposite of the goal of most people and entrenched me further. Congratulations!Moving away from that though, most of my Quora life will still be arguing on behalf of conservatism and Christianity, but I hold views of the so called “other side”. It amazes me that an Oregon Progressive and a Tennessee Conservative could have largely the same views but still end up arguing semantics, it’s insane! I tear my hair out sometimes seeing people on this site arguing minor issues and things they largely agree on!But that’s the end of my rant. To answer your question, I became slightly more moderate and have a clearer conception of my own views, but I still lean conservative.Edit: I’m keeping this up as a pinned answer until I can make a better answer expressing my political views, so I want to clarify a few things you use this as a guide to view my opinions.Every once in a while, I fluctuate a little bit between a more conservative and authoritarian viewpoint and a more libertarian center-right sort of perspective. I use these terms not in the hyperbolic sense, but rather in their denotative forms. Regardless, my opinions will always be in line, or as close as they can be, with the Roman Catholic Church. This isn’t because of some lack of conviction, but rather full acknowledgement of the fact that if I call myself a Catholic it would be hypocritical for me to go against the teachings of my own Church.Regardless, my opinions tend to lie with American Republicans and Conservatives. My sympathies also lie with those who prefer tradition and to maintain their own way of life, whether that be their communities, faith, or other aspect.I’d like you to view this as a quick guide to how I was feeling that day. You will hear me lean more conservative or liberal depending on the answer or subject matter, but the truth of the matter is all the views I express here are accurate, even if I sound slightly more liberal or progressive than I usually do.But yes, Catholicism is further entrentched for me. Religion is more civil than politics, you know that’s a problem.Regardless, have a nice day!
