PDF Editor FAQ

What is your favorite neighborhood in Renton, Washington?

Here is what I think of the city of Renton. This includes the ENTIRE City of Renton Police Department and the ONLY Judge at the Renton Municipal Court.Dec. 12 20170615 hrsLocation: Maple Valley Highway.Jurisdiction: King County Sheriff's Office and Washington State Patrol. This road has nearly 0 lighting for 95% of its Entire 10.2 mile length of road stretching from the city of Renton at exit 4 of interstate 405 and the city of Maple Valley.I am on my way home from work. City of Renton Police officer pulls me over on this road and its in the Dark. The officer approaches my driver side window, and identifies himsef as such: “City of Renton Police.” Then he continues with reason for stopping me. “I pulled you over this morning because your vehicle is illegally painted.“ (This is EXACTLY what my jeep looks like)I respond “How exactly do you determine paint job legality in the dark?”. The officer becomes agitated, goes on a tirade at me about questioning a police officers duties. I then simply responded by stating that I am simply asking a question. After a moment the officer calms down and asks for my license and such. I comply and ask the officer for his name and badge number. He responds by telling me that he is not required to provide that information at this time. He leaves with my info, comes back a few minutes later, hands me a citation for unrelated matters. When I tried to ask for what, he responds that its on the citation and to “shut up and go home”. The officer returns to his vehicle and drives away. But I WAS SUCCESSFUL in obtaining the license plate number. ( 54295D)Dec 17th, 20170605 hrsLocation: Maple Valley Highway.Jurisdiction: King County Sheriff's Office and Washington State Patrol.Once again I am on my way home from work. I drive down Maple Valley Highway (from hereon referred to as MVH) and I am stopped by none other than City of Renton Police Dept. The officer approaches my vehicle and runs through his script, Id’s himself as City of Renton police and asks for my stuff. He tells me that he pulled me over because “my turn signal is flashing too rapidly”. I asked him if my turn signal was actually working. He confirms that it was but gets mad at me for my next response. I asked him if there was a speed limit on turn signals. If it was working, then what is the problem? The officer explains that “we dont answer to you. We’re the police, you answer to us”. I said whatever but okay then asked the officer for his name and badge number. When I did, the officer asked what I need it for. I explained that it was for my records and my protection. The officer hands my papers back and tells me that they dont need to provide that info unless they are writing a citation. (At this point, I began documenting EVERYTHING, EVERY TIME.) The officer let me off with a warning about obeying police “ no questions asked”. And the officer returned to his vehicle and drove away, this time going in the opposite direction.Dec. 30th 20170630 hrsLocation: Grady Way in front of Sams ClubI am on my way home from work and I am followed, again pulled over by City of Renton Police. I pull into the sams club parking lot. The officer approaches my vehicle and runs his mouth. I hand him my id and such. I ask for his name and badge number. The officer says his name is Officer Vanderbuck but refuses to provide his badge number. Vanderbuck states he pulled me over because my rear window is illegally tinted. It is very known that the windows on these vehicles are tinted by the manufacturer. I didnt tint the windows. I relayed this info to officer vanderbuck and asked how you determine window tint at night. He responds with “we have tools for that”. (What a bs response) . The officer runs my info, gives me a citation on completely unrelated garbage that he made up and goes on his way.Jan 05th 20180700 hrsLocation: Maple Valley HighwayI am on my way home from work. I get pulled over by City of Renton Police. After sitting in my car for about 10 minutes, the officer finally approaches my vehicle. After all talk, he states he pulled me over because I have an illegal suspension. (Once again, I drive a jeep) I explain to the officer that my suspension is the stock suspension and that there is nothing wrong with it. The officer warns me about my “attitude”, writes me a ticket for unrelated garbage. I asked for his name and badge number and asked for a supervisor on duty to arrive. The officer refused to id himself, threatened me with arrest if I didnt comply. So I complied. But I documented Everything. The officer left. Then things got worse.Jan 10th 20180900 hrsLocation: My closed one-way-in-one-way-out cul-de-sac neighborhood.I come home from an errand and I notice an officer in the entrance way. As I drive by, I look at his vehicle. City of Renton Police. (Again, KC Sheriff and Wa State Patrol jur.) The officer is reading a book. I stop just past the entrance and snap a picture. (Surprise surprise….LP 54295D) The same police SUV that pulled me over in Dec. I returned home.Jan. 14th 20181100 hrsLocation: Across the street from my house.I come outside. (My vehicle parked right out front) I see a City of Renton Police SUV parked across the street. (No one in my neighborhood is a renton pd. 911 calls Always bring out the KC Sheriffs office, not Renton pd) So I decide to toy with him. I stand next to my jeep and this officer looks right at me. I walk down the street to the next cul de sac and turn around. Now I am about 70 feet away. The officer and I are looking right at each other. He is using his driver side mirror. I return home. About ten minutes later, I go back out again and I head to the entrance of my neighborhood. I turn around and now I am standing about 50 feet away. Again, the Renton PD officer is looking right at me. I return home and document everything.Jan 18th 20181330 hrsLocation: Across the street from my houseI come outside and once again there is a City of Renton Police SUV across the street. This time, I go up to the officer. He rolls his window down. I ask his name and badge number and reason for increased police presence. He responds with “You need to mind your own business”. I explained to him that he is in a crime watch neighborhood with A Lot of kids. His presence is exactly my business. The officer responds with “traffic control”. I remarked how funny it is that an officer is outside his jurisdiction claiming to do traffic control in a crime watch neighborhood with A Lot of kids. I told him he was full of sh%$ and walked away.Jan 24th 20181400 hrsLocation: City of Renton Police Dept.I step inside and ask to file a complaint against police officers. I get told to “hang on”. About half hour later, Commander Wilkenson comes out, Id’s himself as the “Liaison between the Renton police department and internal affairs” ( that is something I have never heard of) and asks whats going on. I told him everything, the picture, the dishonesty. I told him its stalking, harassment, police intimidation and abuse of power.Commander Wilkenson goes on to say “Its not stalking, its not harassment. We can go where we want. We can park where we want. We can stop and pullover anyone we want. We can watch whoever we want.”I then said the following :“ Okay, I'm going to get a video camera, I'm going to start taking pictures of the police officers all over the City of Renton, on my street, in my neighborhood . I'm going to find out where you live because it's public record and I'm going to record the street your house is on. “Commander Wilkinson then responds “ I would advise against that”.And I responded, “ why? it's a public Street, isn't that what you just said? You can go where you want you can park where you want? Okay it's a public Street, I’m the public. I'm recording the street, you don't like it? Move. The officer doesn't like it? He can leave. I'm recording the tree the officer's parked next to he doesn't like it he can get the hell out of my neighborhood. Kind of funny how your own logic plays against you and you don't like it.”At this point I turned around and walked out of the police department. So when you ask what do I think about any neighborhood of the City of Renton? The entire city is corrupt. The ENTIRE Renton Police Department is corrupt. The Renton Municipal Court is corrupt.

Is it illegal to share a voice message that someone left on my phone?

This is a difficult question to answer. In the end, there are several legal components that may affect who owns your voicemail, and whether you can share it. In the United States, there are Federal, State, and municipal laws that may affect the legality. There’s also case law that may affect whether you can use the voice message in any legal capacity, e.g., in a court as evidence. Additionally, if the voice message is recorded using a “voicemail” service by a phone carrier (either land or mobile phone network), then you may have a user agreement that dictates who owns the voice message. If you’re using a voicemail service, it’s best to call your voice carrier and ask. The question is too individual and the laws are too nuanced across jurisdictions to answer succinctly and correctly at a broad level.

Why is Bill Clinton still worshiped by Democrats despite signing bills that prevented LGBT rights (defense of marriage act) and that locked up minorities, not to mention him cheating on his wife?

Thank you for the opportunity to explain why President Bill Clinton did more for gay men and lesbians than any other President. Arguably he did more than President Barack Obama. President Obama did not personally get the Defense of Marriage Act repealed. He opposed same-sex marriage at a time when his party had control of congress and only later changed his mind. While I agree that, with the lens of today’s understanding, it seems like President Bill Clinton did little and even set back LGBT people, that’s a narrative that could only be spun today. At the time of his Presidency, he was considered revolutionary in his approach to gay and lesbian rights. That said, I will say that he did less for transgender people than President Barack Obama, at least from my understanding. This is all verifiable from a Google search.I should mention that, as President, Bill Clinton mentioned gays and lesbians as part of the civil rights movement. Before him, Presidents distanced themselves from gays and lesbians. (Though President Carter did very publicly oppose California’s Proposition 6 in 1978, which would have banned gay men and lesbians from working in public schools.)Let me go through a few positive things he helped do in the 1990s:In 1994, he supported and signed a bill that provided for longer sentences for hate crimes based on sexual orientation. He issued an executive order in 1995 that prohibited discrimination based on sexual orientation in the United States Federal civil service. He issued the first Gay and Lesbian Pride Month proclamation in June 1999.He actively opposed Oregon and Idaho’s initiatives to prevent municipalities from protecting gays and lesbians in 1994. (He did similar for Maine’s initiatives, but Maine’s passed.)He fought for the military to stop discharging people who tested HIV-positive, and did so successfully. His administration worked with AIDS organizations to have the Americans with Disabilities Act apply to people living with HIV and AIDS. This view of the act was challenged and later upheld by the Supreme Court. In the late 90s, he stopped congress from striking civil rights protections in appropriations bills. This came from several Republican congress members, and included:An amendment to a bill that prohibited enforcing any Presidential executive order that banned discrimination on sexual orientation in the Federal civil service. An amendment to a bill that would have cut federal funding from San Francisco unless it stopped recognizing domestic partnerships (including same-sex domestic partnerships). An amendment that would have stopped Washington, DC from providing funds to “unmarried couples” for adoption. This was very explicitly targeted to adoption agencies that were allowing same-sex couples to adopt. He granted asylum to those facing prosecution for their homosexuality. He was the first president to ever do that. His directed the Department of Education to explain that sexual harassment extends to all students, regardless of their sexual orientation. Before that, sexual harassment was considered to only occur between people of different genders (at least by the Department of Education). He made sure congress considered and passed a bill that banned insurance discrimination for people who had HIV (in other words, insurance could no longer use HIV as a pre-existing condition). He appointed more than 150 openly gay men and lesbians to his administration. He supported the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (called ENDA), that would have stopped employment discrimination. Unfortunately, it did not pass and it took a Supreme Court decision in 2020 before discrimination against LGBT people would be banned for employment. He was the first President of the United States to speak at LGBT organization gatherings (the Human Rights Campaign in 1997).He was the first President of the United States to mention gay and lesbian issues as part of State of the Union remarks. And he did a ton more, including helping with health care initiatives for LGBT people.Only two policies have been considered detrimental from President Bill Clinton: (1) In 1993, he had to compromise on “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” While it’s true that a better solution would have been to remove the ban on homosexuality all together, he had to fight against the Joint Chiefs statement that said, “homosexuality is not compatible with military service.” At the time, it was looked at as a partial victory and a step in the right direction. Later, it ended up being used in horrible ways (as part of legal arguments that created anti-gay legal precedents, and a method to coerce and blackmail members of the military). (2) He signed the Defense of Marriage Act, which caused a slew of anti-marriage laws and state constitutional amendments. This was also a compromise, but one that is less forgivable. You can focus on all the good he did, or focus on the couple of bad moves he made in the interest of compromise. Presidents have a hard time. We can argue that cultural relativism is a bad thing, and the context of the times people lived in fails to excuse people’s actions. But we can also note that everyone is human, including Presidents, and sometimes they make mistakes, thinking they’re working toward a greater good. President Clinton worked for LGBT people and did not rely only on the Supreme Court and Executive Actions for the victories he made for us.
