What was your childhood dream?This. One of the stories of my life that I rarely narrate.It “is” my childhood dream even now. Yes, to join Indian Airforce and become a proud lady to serve the nation.Having born in a family of army-men and policemen, I was always taught to be tough and disciplined. I was given examples of people who have reached one of the top posts in the Indian Defence Services.As a job, this is my first love to join.What am I doing now?Cleared JEE Mains, pursuing IT engineering in one of the reputed institutes of India, spending hours sitting in front of my laptop learning about my field, being a part of extra-curriculars and a bit of fun.Wait, How come?? A girl who had never in her dreams thought of becoming an engineer, a girl who did not even know about IIT’s till 7th standard got into such a graduation course?The fact that Indian Airforce and the other defense forces recruit only women graduates dawned upon me and put in the biggest dilemmas of my life.I chose engineering as a graduation field for my love.JEE Mains, AIR-14,564. What next?Life smirked- How can I be so smooth to you dear kid? *smirk smirk smirk*The best option available to me was to join a 5 yr integrated course from my institute. Here I am pursuing engineering, waiting for the next 3 yrs to finish. [One year reduced to apply :( ]I had even applied for a B certificate of National Cadet Corps and had been a part of it too.The destiny is a cruel gift. When I went to collect my completion certificate of the course, they greeted me with a sentence - “Oh! You did not even appear for the exam. Look there is an absent marked over here.” I tried all my might to explain and give proofs to them, yes, I did. There were court sessions too. The final decision asked me to go for a re-exam which is held always while I am giving my “Minor-2” exams in the college. Now, I have even left making attempts. All I have is the best of memories of my life being a part of NCC.Are you satisfied?I don’t really know where will life take me? Where will I behead. All I know now is, whether I succeed or not, I will be satisfied of living in the present.It is a bit tough working to be a good engineer, coding for hours along in front of a glow-screen and working day and night and keeping your body away from any kind of disorder to pass the tough medical examinations in AirForce at the same time.It is tough watching your laptop showing you this wallpaper always but then opening Hackerrank or Dev C++ to code.Even at my app development internship, there are moments when I ask myself what am I doing man? There are moments which bring tears to my eyes when I think of thoughts like the girl who asks others to live life to full, will herself be able to live it or not?But sometimes you should let reality be reality and do your best at whatever you are doing now.Whenever things tense me, I just get numb, not thinking about anything and doing what the present demands from me which makes me both satisfied and happy.:)
