What human in world history is the closest we had to a super hero in terms of strength, intelligence, unnatural abilities, etc.?

This is the story of a real-life X-Man, with a mutant power much like David Dunn, the heroic security guard in the 2000 film Unbreakable. In 1994, a Connecticut man was involved in a horrible car crash. Though a normal person would have received multiple broken bones, this man was uninjured.X-rays showed no fractures at all. This was unusual enough that the patient was referred to Dr. Karl Insogna, professor of internal medicine and director of the Yale Bone Center. Tests revealed that the unnamed man had a bone density eight times higher than the average man his age.The man, called “John” in medical studies, had extremely dense bones and an uncommonly square jaw, but his skeleton was otherwise normal. When swimming, he would quickly sink to the bottom. From The-Scientist article sourced below:Six years later, Insogna heard a fellow physician mention he'd seen a family with very high bone mass. Together they traced the family tree, linking John to an extended kin group sprinkled up and down the Eastern seaboard. One of the affected family members is a physician in Alabama. "He's had several failed hip replacements because they can't screw the prosthesis into his bone," Insogna says. "It's too hard." Studying the family, Insogna's team zeroed in on a region of chromosome 11 likely linked to the unusual trait.Researchers identified a gene mutation called “LRP5,” which was activated in John and his extended family. Their bones appear to remain strong throughout their lives, resistant to normal degradation as they age. This breakthrough could be the key to treating Osteoporosis, a condition that causes decreased density in bones, leading to more fractures. Multiple studies are ongoing to unlock the power of this mutation for future treatments. As awesome as it would be to imagine “John” and his family as Bruce Willis-esque crime-fighters, their unique superpower could still save countless lives.Sources:Photo: Touchstone Pictures (image from Unbreakable film)The world's densest bones (The Scientist)Yale Researchers Find Potential Target for Treatment and Prevention of Osteoporosis (Yale News)High Bone Density Due to a Mutation in LDL-Receptor–Related Protein 5 | NEJM (New England Journal of Medicine)

When Elvis Presley was a young child did his mom Gladys ever tell him about his Cherokee heritage & was there any American Indian heritage as well?

It was part of family lore that was often repeated. So, he grew up with the story. But, there weren’t a lot of details to latch onto. Just the bit about being “part-Cherokee.” That’s pretty much it.In his case, the ancestor in question is his GGG grandmother. She didn’t generate many records, but some theories state shewas Native American. But, her tribe was never clearly recorded. She was just said to be “Cherokee.” The fact that she married a White man in southern Alabama at that particular time would seem to suggest a non-Cherokee status, actually. She may have been Creek or some other tribe. But, this is not definitely proven one way or another.By the time Elvis was born, we are taking about a woman that 5 generations back in his family tree. There was no cultural heritage to speak of, just the recitation that there was this distant Native ancestor that was born in the late 1700s.

What's the most disturbing thing you've found when researching your family tree?

Not my family tree, but my children's. Of my ex husband and his mother. They are of a lineage that goes back to early 1700s. They're ancestors came to Virginia and devopled into large land owners. One, the direct line was a General in the Revolutionary War. There is a painting of him in the Smithsonian. After this, he gained political power and eventual became Governor of Georgia. All this time, they owned slaves. You can go to Genealogy, Family Trees & Family History Records to the slave census and look to see how many. My ex MIL has pictures of little slave children on the old plantation house on their land. This ancestor, when he was Govenor, wanted to expand and gain more land into what is now Lower Alabama. He sold it to his friends and others at ridiculously low prices. And, he kicked the Indians off and sent them to live in Florida. This eventually became what is known as the Goose Pond incident. What was left of this land is what my ex inlaws live off and what my kids will inherit. They are also very politically connected. The family has a long history in the US. I can't say the name, I don't know who reads this, but if you Google Goose Pond Incident, you'll find everything. And the family only tells you off the good things that happened. They dont tell you about the slaves, or the land or the Indians.
