Lord Militant von Clarkes Astra Militarum Reforms, M42.005Codex Astra MilitarumFormation of the KampfgruppeKampfgruppe forces are to be formed in each Sub Sector consisting of 15 Regiments from a different Sub Sector within the same Sector.Kampfgruppe must contain Regiments of differing specialty. Standardised to 8 Infantry, 2 Siege, 2 Armoured 1 Airborne and 2 randomised based on Sub Sector needs.Kampfgruppe must be headed by a General who does not originate from the Sub Sector itself. Regiments held within are to act as a quick relief force for local Planetary Defence Forces whilst the larger Guard mobilises.Training StandardisationThe training of Militarum Regiments varies massively across the Segmentums, let alone the planets. Training is to be standardised as a minimum of 15 weeks. 1 week to be spent on discipline, 1 week to be spent on indoctrination into the Imperial Cult. 2 weeks to study shooting and marksmanship of the Lasgun, maintenance of said Lasgun and the usage of the bayonet. 1 week to be spent on crew served weapons. 3 weeks to be spent on battle drills, tactics and large scale warfare ranging from squad to multi-regiment size. 2 more weeks on field crafting, like trench digging, camping, concealment, rations and survival. 1 week spent on the repulsing of heretical urges. 2 more weeks of high intensity exercises followed by the last 3 weeks containing preparation for their destined battlezone.Sub Sectors are now to maintain a Regimental Training Corps. These are to consist of now retired Sergeants and other Non Commissioned Officers (from now destroyed/disbanded Regiments are eligible for this Corps.) Reward shall be double pay, triple rations and exemption of any spouse and offspring from service in the Guard. Note: Service in a Planetary Defence Force is NOT exempted.Role of the RTC is to give viable combat experience to Guardsmen prior to being shipped to a combat zone. This is considered vital to the new aimed longevity of a Guardsmans life from approximately 15 hours to 20, allowing for a 21.3% increase.Equipment StandardisationLasgun standardisation will vary from Regiment type to Regiment type. Standard Infantry units will receive the M36 Kantrael Ptn Lasgun. Armoured Regiments will receive the Triplex Ptn Lasgun. Siege Regiments the Lucius Ptn Lasgun. Airborne Regiments the Accatran Mark IV Ptn Lasgun. Other Regiment Types will be equipped with the Mars Mk. III Ptn Lasgun.Flak Jackets will be issued to all Regiments regardless of type. As will helmets with visors in for eye protection, knee pads and an attachable face mask. Adjustments can be made on a need-to-be basis depending on deployment. Able to have gas mask, filters, thermal vision, night vision, optical enhancers, shemagh and armoured face plate attached.Bergens and backpacks are to be in 3 variants. Assault, Standard and Bergen. Assault is to be small and designed to hold 36 hours of supply. Standard is to hold 56 hours and Bergen to hold 80 hours.Boots are to be standardised and polished regularly. Boots will be waterproof, have removable thermal lining and be able to offer sufficient ankle support.Rations are to consist of a canteen able to hold 3.5 litres of water. x2 Carbohydrate blocks, x2 Protein blocks and x2 Caffeine pills. 24 hour and 48 hour ration packs double and quadruple this respectively.Commissars now take a step backwards. Let the Guard Officers do their jobs and let the Commissars investigate for cause to punish based on heresy.Troops will now be paid monthly 65 Aquilas, raising by 7 per promotion. Officer pay is 85 Aquilas rising by 10 per promotion.Formation of the Aeronautica MilitarumThe formation of this will have each Imperial Army/Kampfgruppe accompanied by;24 Lightning Fighters, 36 Avenger Heavy Fighters, 12 Lightning Strikes, 8 Marauder Destroyers and 40 Valkyries.Centralised Air Corps which are directly subordinate to an Army Group Commander and able to be delegated to Army and even Regimental Commanders will consist of;400 Thunderbolt Fighters, 240 Lightning Fighters, 360 Avenger Heavy Fighters, 240 Lightning Strikes, 240 Marauder Destroyers, 600 Marauder Bombers, 96 Marauder Vigilants, 96 Marauder Colossus, 200 Marauder Bastions (Up armoured, up armed and up turreted Marauder bombers.)Airborne Regiments will now have integrated Valkyrie, Vulture, Sky Talon and Lightning air wings. Airborne Engineering battalions will also be instructed on the rapid construction of airbases with which to facilitate this.Any ire drawn from the Navy can be refuted with the consistent evidence of their refusal to assist ground forces and insistence on their application in void only warfare. Demonstrate examples of Guard controlled air power being more effective. Cite Vraks, Armageddon and the Damocles Crusade.Standardisation of the Officer CorpsThe total elimination of nepotistic appointments and promotions.The total elimination of dynastic appointments and promotions.The total elimination of ill-placed commanders.Promotion based on field performance and merit, over political connections and family name.Schola Progenium to be a 50 week course covering everything from personal discipline to multi-regimental offensive, defensive and logistical operations.Reconciliation with the Imperial NavyTry to at least provide a cordial relationship with the void-borne comrades.Have Naval representatives at each Army and Army Group Command to provide Naval Input on a campaign.Prioritise the neutralisation and commandeering of land based anti-orbital weapons, which will then be handed over to the Navy.Standardisation of the Order of BattleA Squad on the field will now consist of 12 men. 1 Sergeant, 1 Heavy Weapons Trooper and 1 Vox Caster. 9 standard Guardsmen with lasguns respective of regiment will exist.4 Squads will form a Platoon, the 1st Squad in this platoon will feature the Company Commander (A Second Lieutenant or a Lieutenant)2 Platoons form a Company of 100 men, with 1st Platoon headed by a Captain.5 Companies form a battalion, with 1st Company headed by a Major6 Battalions form a Brigade, headed by a Lieutenant Colonel.Anywhere from 2 to 10 Brigades can now form a Regiment, headed by a Colonel.5 Regiments fall under the Command of a General.10 Regiments form a Regimental Battlegroup, commanded by a Major General.30 Regiments form an Army, headed by a Grand General.5 Armies form an Army Group headed by a Militarum Commander.Additionally, Regiments will have attached support forces based on their types. These standards are for infantry only. Artillery, Armour, Recon and any form of vehicular formation can be divided as seen fit following the standard rule of command as stated above. Customary ranks can be inserted to replace all beneath Second Lieutenant.These reforms are to be submitted on behalf of Lord Commander Militant von Clarke of the 1st Australasian and New Zeylander Regiment (ANZAR.) and overall commander of the Astra Militarum.~~~May the Emperors light guide those lost, wayward souls back to eternal redemption, lest they be cast into the grim void where they now head~~~P.S: Just a small piece on some of the many, many reforms I would do for the Astra Militarum.
