What is the most disturbing thing you have ever seen your neighbor do?

She’s too cheap to pay for garbage service, so she just stacked the bags on the back side of her house. She did this for 2 years.Eventually the city caught on, and after multiple visits to her home and written warnings, they fined her $5,000.00.She paid the fine (which was roughly 14 years worth of garbage service) and then disposed of the garbage by packing it all across her yard and throwing it over the fence into the neighboring condo association greenspace. The condo people didn’t like that. Not at all.The city came back out and fined her again. $26,000.00 this time. PLUS the fees for having a crew of workers with several trucks come and haul the garbage away.Lesson learned, right? Nope. That all took place 6 months ago, and she has been stacking garbage on the back side of her house ever since. Yesterday I saw a city employee snooping around and putting a warning notice on her door. Wonder what the fine will be this time…

I work from home. I applied for a rental house & was approved w/that on my application. I'm now receiving warning notices for eviction unless I stop conducting business from home. What are my rights in Texas at this point?

I work from home. I applied for a rental house & was approved w/that on my application. I'm now receiving warning notices for eviction unless I stop conducting business from home. What are my rights in Texas at this point? You say you put right on the rental application that you’d be conducting a business from the property? Did you specify what KIND of business, or just say “working from home”?If you’re just “working from home”, that implies you’re doing online or other “self-contained” work (like an artist or author). No customers coming, no packages/products being picked up or dropped off. I’ve never seen a landlord object to that.If you’re actually running a business out of a residential property, that’s a whole different matter. If you have customers/employees coming and going, things being dropped off or picked up, excessive traffic, then you’ve caused a nuisance that the landlord did not agree to allow. How was your business license approved by the city/county without the landlord signing off on it? (That’s a requirement here - the property owner must authorize a tenant to conduct a business on private property.)

As an employee, if I find my manager is going to terminate me tomorrow, how should I handle or behave in the meeting?

I was laid off from Verizon in April 2017 with my last day of employment in May 2017. Most companies want to make sure they want to have the former employee leave with as much dignity as possible. When it was announced my role was eliminated, it wasn’t what I expected. The person notifying me of the reduction in force (RIF) was my former director (we were recently reorganized) and we were in the same office location while my then immediate manager was in a remote office.I had an inkling I would be RIF’d and the website TheLayoff.com - Layoffs Discussion Board gave a big heads up. VZ and many big companies are very careful to prune the workforce to not trigger any WARN notices. Once that happens, it is public information and mainstream media will report it and companies lose the surprise.Leading up to the notification, an interesting thing happened. Within the corporate network, I stumbled upon a document on how to conduct a lay off, literally days before I was notified. When the call happened, I knew exactly that I was laid off. I wasn’t sure if my last day was that day or not, but it turned out I had an extra month. Verizon pretty much offered me an extra month of pay to look for another job within the company. That was a very nice touch. My best advice to anyone is to read the employee handbook/guide. Timing could have been better, but isn’t that always the case?Leading up to the last day the most important thing to me:My 401k would vest
